What's your make and model# please? Did you do a system restore from Windows or did you use the recovery cd that should have come with your pc? Thanks.

Hello

The system restore component in windows is mostly flawed and causes more problems than it fixes.

If you must restore to the point of purchase use the windows installation disk or system restore disk that came with your pc.

When checking my yahoo account I am constantly getted an error that Internet explorer cannot displat the webpage. This is not happening with any other account or general web browsing.

try to re-install the Internet Explorer if it does not work try also the "SYSTEM RESTORE" of your pc.

click START, PROGRAMS, ACCESSORIES, SYSTEM TOOLS, SYSTEM RESTORE
then choose an earlier date that had been working perfectly before you have that problem...

goodluck...

get back to me if you still have the problem.

Internet explorer will not open

try to do system restore 2 - 3 days from the time you first experience the problem.

to do system restore ( for windows xp) click start, click all programs, click accessories, click system tools and click system restore. click next and after that you will be able to see a calendar with dates that is bold form, it means that those bold dates are your usable restore points and choose the restore point 2 - 3days from the time you first experience the problem then click next or restore. after that the computer will process the system restore and will restart automatically, if the system restore is successful click the finish button if not just click ok and try another restore point.

---------------------------------

if that doesnt work try to go to safemode w/ networking, at that mode try to use your internet explorer.

to go to safemode w/ networking shutdown the computer completely. turn it on again after 10 - 20 secs, as soon as you see the dell screen immediately tap the " F8 " key continuously. if that is successful you be in the windows advance menu option screen. use your up and down arrow key in your keyboard to navigate, choose the safemode w/ networking and hit enter twice. log in to your account or name ( not the administrator ) just to check if you are in the safemode w/ networking, there will be safemode word in each corner of your screen and the desktop background is black.

if you are using windows xp and you are internet explorer 8, try to uninstall the internet explorer 8.

to uninstall the internet explorer 8, follow the instructions below
- click start
- click control panel
- click add/remove programs
- navigate and look for the internet explorer 8, click it then click remove and restart the computer after.

Not computer savey at all. At most times when I try to close a seconde window, the system freezes. Not even task manager allows me to close...all shuts down. Idea?

Remove explorer 8 and go back to 7. There is a problem with 8 doing this. I run across it about a dozen times a week. To go back to your old system just do a computer restore and choose a date before you installed 8. To get to system restore click your start button, then all programs, then system tools, then system restore. Once started you can not stop or use the computer till it is finished. You can always reverse it back if you need to.

My dell d600 wont open web page but is connected to internet

Perform the Internet Explorer setup:

1- Open Internet Explorer and go to [Tools] and [Internet Options]
2- Click on "Connections" tab
3- Click on button that says "Setup" and follow the on-screen instructions

If the above doesn't work and your Internet Explorer worked in the last couple days, make sure your browser has not updated to the new Internet Explorer 8 version.
If you have another computer at this location, check if that one can connect to the internet and surf the web
If the above doesn't work (or is not available), your next option is to perform the "System Restore"
1- go to [Start], All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore
2- choose restore my computer to an earlier time and click next
3- choose a date when you last remember internet explorer working and on the window beside it (to the right) choose from the list either "system check point" or something that may be related to updates or Internet explorer (if nothing else, choose System check point)
4- Click next and after the restart, the computer will tell you if it restored successfully.
5- remember, you can only restore to the dates that are in "bold"

Let us know how it goes and rate us. :)
