Question about Apple iPod MP3 Player

1 Answer

Skipping songs I have an old ipod: 20G, non-color screen, bought in 2004. It's worked fine for years until recently when it started kipping songs. It'll start to play in shuffle mode, then about halfway into a song it will skip to the next, but it also freezes for about 30 seconds between songs, and sometimes skips 2 or 3 songs in a row. Is there any fix for this other than resetting and losing all my music?

Song skipping on iPod

maybe they got corrupted try putting them on the music player again or try getting the same songs but diff versions of the file and you could try last to convert the songs to a diff format then put them on the player if its the the same songs on both the players that wont play then its the songs and not the player

IPod not working in my music dock

Hi Natalie
Sounds like you're having logic board troubles. You need to take it to an ipod repair specialist to take a look at it. Sorry to bring the bad news. Chances are it's not a simple repair and will need a new logic board and they're not cheap:

If it's still less than a year old take it back to an apple store asap for a free replacement.

All the best

Ipod problem - playing songs in order

sounds like you need a new hard drive, which has a little read-write disk in it that is getting finicky... just to get more use out of it lay it on side or other positions and hear if works ok...if so its diffently Hard drive. you know the sandisks are 2 gigs no moving parts why doesnt somebody put 20 together making 40 gigs and replace the failing Ipods!!??? just pure electronics and no moving parts and much smaller...not like a hard drive. I thought of this over 30 years ago looking at the first plug in video game.
