This is what it means:

F6. 6 Flashes. Water valve (WV1) is switched on but flow meter (FM) senses no impulses (less than 10 impulses in 10 secs) and the water indicator (WI) is at a low level
Water Valve Closed. Water inlet hose blocked.
Water inlet valve (WV1) defective. Flow meter (FM) defective (leads to FM failure)

The above info is pretty self explanatory but the bottom line is the dishwasher either is not filling fast enough or... is sensing that it is not filling fast enough. Check your inlet water line for flow by first turning off the power and water supply line then remove the line .... open the wall connection valve and check the flow. Also take a flashlight and small mirror if need be to check the hole of the inler to the water valve.

Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Whirlpool 6 sense f6

Normally the F6 code means a shorting cook relay. That can be repaired for $39.95 in most cases.
But it would be best if we knew your full model number from the cooking cavity or elsewhere on the oven.

Just stopped working and on the screen it says -F6-

You didn't mention your brand or model, but I'd guess that it's a Maytag, Whirlpool, or Kitchenaid.

"F6" on those brands means you have a shorted cook relay on the control circuit board.

We regularly repair these units with our $39.95 repair service.

Feel free to contact us directly with your full model number from the tag on the oven.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

While using the Bake Potatoe setting the code F6 came up on the display and the light went out and the machine was making a humming noise.

F6 on a Whirlpool microwave means your cook relay has shorted.

We can repair that with our $39.95 service (details here) or you can order a new control circuit board from the Pros here.

I have a Whirlpool MH7140XFQ-0 Microwave and last night it stopped working with the screen showing F6. I unplugged it for over an hour and plugged it back in and it went right to F6. It tries to run if the...

"F6" on a Whirlpool microwave means you have a shorted cook relay on the control circuit board.

For model MH7140XFQ0 the control circuit board would be part number 4393919, which you can order from the Pros here for $132.23.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Then you unplug the keypad (as per the photo below) take out the old board, then move the new circuit board into your frame.

Some connectors on the relays may have a lock:

It wasnt working at no display nothing, i took down and cleaned real good now im getting a F6 code

Funny that a cleaning would revive a totally dead microwave! Never would have guessed. On microwaves manufactured by whirlpool, F6 apparently means "Microwave relay failure. Check wiring to relay 4903 for short circuits."
Talk to your local service shop and see if they will replace a microwave relay... they should be able to give you a parts and labour estimate before they begin so you will know what you are in for.

Midway through heating my lunch, my microwave started making a funny noise and "F6" came up on the display. Now I can't get it to work. What does this mean and how do I fix it?

We regularly repair such control units for customers nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week or two with a one-year guarantee.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Kenmore microwave model 66569619992

The first three digits of your model number are 665, which means it was made by Whirlpool.

On a Whirlpool, F6 means a fault on the control board, such as a timing error or a shorted relay.

A shorted relay could mean it is running when it shouldn't. Pleased don't allow it to do that for more than a few seconds, or other serious damage could occur.

The first thing to try is a "hard reset". Unplug it from the power line for a few minutes, plug it back in, set the clock, then try again.

If it still fails, please leave it unplugged, and I would say you have a problem on your control panel assembly, which we repair for customers nationwide with our $39.95 service.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you need more help.
