Question about Ebel Classic Wave 9090F249725 Wrist Watch

Can I swim laps w/ my ebel 30 meter watch? The watch has 4 screws on the back and the crown does not screw down.

Water Resistant is a common mark stamped on the back of wrist watches to indicate how well a watch is sealed against ingress of water. It is usually accompanied by an indication of the static test pressure that a sample of newly manufactured watches was exposed to in a leakage test. The test pressure can be indicated either directly in bars, or (more commonly) as an equivalent water depth in meters (in the United States sometimes also in feet).
An indication of the test pressure in terms of water depth does not mean a water resistant watch was designed for repeated long term use in such water depths. For example, a water resistant watch marked at 30 meters depth cannot be expected to withstand activity for longer time periods in a swimming pool, let alone continue to function at 30 meters under water. This is because the test is conducted only once using static pressure on some of the newly manufactured watches. The test for qualifying a diving watch for repeated usage in a given depth includes safety margins to take factors in account like aging of the seals, rapidly changing water pressure and temperature, as well as dynamic mechanical stresses encountered by a watch. Also every diving watch has to be fully tested for water resistance.

Change men's ebel watch battery
This is for a woman's watch but may apply to yours. You need to remove the screws around the bezel of the front of the watch (not accessed through the rear like most watches).

Be sure to use the correct size screwdriver to avoid marring the screws. Then you will need to remove the half of the split stem attached to the crown. Remove the movement from the front, replace the cell, lube the gaskets, and reassemble.

The stem seems stuck and I can't change the time on my watch. I can't remember having this problem before. Shouldn't it pull out easily so I can manually change the time? Thanks
hello some watches have a screw down crown turn the stem screw counter clockwise a few turns and then try pulling out gently. hope that helps

How to change battery on a ladies classic 18 k and steel watch with solid back

Hi hope this steps will helped you in changing the battery but I just want you to remind that you have to be careful in changing the battery because it might affect the other part.


1- remove the crown by pulling away from the watch, use your thumb and index fingernail and pull , it will come out

2- remove all 5 gold bezel screws

3 - be careful,, the bezel/crystal will pry off easy

4 - be careful and remove the entire face/hands/watch guts all in one easy step,, or just turn the watch over and it will fall out

5 - small screwdriver and remove/replace battery

6 - reinstall watch guts/bezel and gold screws

7 - push crown back into watch

I need a battery for my Ebel watch, along with 4 screws for the band. Numbers on the back of the watch are 18208906 and 1057901.

I lost the crown of my Ebel Classic Wave and now I cannot set the time. Can tnis be replaced? How much and where can I get it replaced?

Clearly a screwdown crown is better for water resistance but most watches maintain a seal without it. I wouldn't test out the 100m claim but it should be safe in the pool.

to change the batt on an ebel womans watch i simple. 1 take out screws from bezel. 2 lift off , make sure to keep rubber gasket in place. 3 pull out stem to the set position. 4 be very carefull not to bend / touch hands. 5 turn case upside down, and you will see the opp side from the winder drop out slitely. with your fingernail pull downwards gently on works, then when you have it out a little on that side, turn it back over. and continue to lifft up gently, 5 as you do so, start to rowtate the works counter clockwise. the stem is made to .bend / swivel and the works will turn upside down and lay back into the case. to protect the face while installing the batt. 6 when done gently lift the same way but rowtate clockwise. but make sure you grab sides of works and not the face. ( the hands are very delicate) 7 take the batt to a jeweler to replace you will never find a batt with the same number ( ebel made sure of that ) they want you to pay 140.00 to 240.00 for them to do it. but a jeweler can match it. now that said, once you take the bezel off, your ebel warenty is void. so 140 -240 or $5.00 your choice i have had meny watches over the years all with rubber gaskets and have replaced batts is some five times and the gasket are still fine. and a batt will last 3 to four years. five in 15 years could cost you $ 1020.00 in the long run. hope that answers your question.

Brand new watch running way to fast
If this is brand new watch, the best way is to bring it back to the dealer to get it fixed under warranty or you will have to pay if the warranty expires. And watch repairs are quite costly.
By the way- there is no reason to panic yet, as this sort of mechanical failure happens from time to time even to brand new watches.
The reason of this can be:
1) Watch has been magnetized,
2) Watch hairspring has some dirt particles sticking onto it,
3) Hairspring can be greasy,
4) Jewel holes are not oiled properly,
5) Uneven coiling of hairspring,
6) Index hasn't been regulated properly.
I understand that all this sounds a bit too scary, but in fact it is no big deal and any decent watchmaker can fix all this quite quickly, so, do not think your watch needs a complete rebuild or similar action.
About removing that screw: There must not be any screws in the winder, but as I do understand, your watch has a screwdown crown (winder) and you have to unscrew it prior setting hands or date. Screwdown crowns are very nice feature as your watch gets very good water resistance, just don't forget to screw it back on.

i have changed the battery on my and my wifes ebel classic wave watch,,
step 1 ...remove the crown by pulling away from the watch, use your thumb and index fingernail and pull , it will come out

step 7... push crown back into watch
step 8... take wife and kids to dinner ,,you just saved three hunderd bucks
if have done it many times ,, you can do it !!!!
