My magnavox 51mp6100d/37 rear projection television has a distortion problem. When I suse the adjustment box for the rgb tubes, red is fine, blue seems to just apply a blue haze, not really go great picture, but when I turn up the green the linese of writing a arched, and do not line up with the red, especially on the outer edges of the screen. Is this a lamp problem or something else. John

YOU HAVE ALGAE IN THE BLUE AND GREEN TUBES IT DOES NOT GROW IN THE RED TUBE TAKE OFF THE FRONT COVER AND LOOK IN THE TUBES COMPAIRE IT WITH THE RED WHEN IT IS ON WITH A PICTURE WILL NOT HEART YOU TO LOOK IN THEM WITH IT ON DONT TRY TO FIX IT YOUR SELF

More likely the problem is the blue and green fluid in the tubes is so cloudy that its distorting the image. Get a fluid kit from www.tvrepairkits.com

needs liqiud in the crt's replaced 

Focus and screen control box / remove front bottom panel there you will find it / it has 3 controls on top 3 on bottom top are focus for RGB tubes bottom controls adjust screen drives for RGB.

Remove back see if you can get to tubes top lenses clean all 3 from dirt/dust/ After cleaning off lenses there is a black control box has 3 controls on top 3 on bottom these are to adjust each tube R-G-B Tubes screen/ focus adjust one tube at a time--- Like to adjust red turn g,b.screen drive off turn red up adjust focus to a clear picture ,then green same and blue If you turn screen up to much it will either shut off or you will see Drive lines adjust back down.OK after doing this turn color off in menu adjust all 3 screen controls untill you have Black and white picture try to adjust as close as you can to get bl/wt picture when that is done now turn color on and you should have alot better picture.

Changing the tubes isn't that hard. However your blue tube is whats causing the green and red to over power your screen. Magnavox blue tubes frequently need the Crt Coolant changed especially in the blue CRT. It has a tendency to gel up like oatmeal and it will actually make it next to impossible for the tube to function properly. You can easily check this. Be careful but look inside the blue tube while its playing you will notice right away if the tube looks real cloudy compared to the green and red tubes. This is a repair that most "handy" people can handle with proper instructions. Hope this helps let me know if I can assist you further.

A sign that amps are going bad, right now you can check resistors in convergence board alongside the amps, check resistance to see if right.

take the broken piece to the hardware store and have a piece of plexiglass cut the same size. thats what we did and it worked really well.
