Just purchased new Toshiba SDHC 8 GB memory card to use in Kodak Easy Share C743 digital camera. Put disk in camera prompt says "Memory Card requires formatting"...press continue, and go to formatting and then get prompt again that disk needs to be formatted. Apparently formatting is not working in camera???...can I do it in computer to work in camera?

No. Can you get into the camera menu when you turn the camera on? If so, go to "format" by way of the menu rather than clicking on continue. Also, be sure the slide switch on the side of the card is in the unlocked position.

The C743 works with MMC and SD cards, not with SDHC cards. While SDHC cards will fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible. You need to go with cards 2GB and smaller.

With no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format" and follow the on-screen instructions to erase the internal memory. After that, your card should work properly.

You can use SD cards up to 2GB in size. You cannot use SDHC cards bigger than 2GB. You should be able to get SD cards at any office supply or electronics store. You could probably even find them in most supermarkets and drug stores, though they might cost a little more.

Your camera is not SDHC compatible. It will only support standard SD cards. Sorry.
