Yes that's it.. try changing some wireless settings on your router like the ssid or wireless network name channel use channel 1, 6 or 11 then try to connect to your wireless network.

Ok, set the channel to 11 then change the ssid to another name.
Then right click wireless icon go to view available wireless network>click change the order of preferred networks>remove everything on the preferred networks box then click OK and close everything, Now right click the wireless icon >view available wireless network then connect to your network.
Check also if you have a wireless security.

Still not connecting to your network ? or it just wont get any IP address? did you restart your pc and by the way how far is the pc from the router?

  • Anonymous May 09, 2008

Try turning the router off for 10 seconds then connect again to your network.

  • Anonymous May 10, 2008

Your wireless network is not showing??
Can you check if the wireless light is blinking on your router.
Go back also to your router setup page and make sure the SSID broadcast is enable.

  • Anonymous May 10, 2008

BY the way on that wireless pc does it give you any message when you try to view the available networks like "Windows cannot find any network make sure the wireless switch is on"?

  • Anonymous May 10, 2008

Ok the next step you can do for this is try resetting your router,
Press and hold the reset button for 15 seconds resetting it meaning the router will be back to its default settings with its default ssid also.
If you reset the router try checking if your will be able to detect the default ssid of it if still not the next step is to update the firmware of it.

  • Anonymous May 10, 2008

Did you already reset the router? is the wireless light on?
You just need to check it on Dlink.com

  • Anonymous May 10, 2008

Ok think you better try checking if there's any firmware update for it on dlink web site if there's no update better call them and check you can replace it.

  • Anonymous May 10, 2008

1 reset again and reconfiguration of the wireless settings change ssid and channel set to 11 , if still the same that should be repalce already sicne your pc is detecting another network.

  • Anonymous May 10, 2008

Time to call dlink and have it replace

I unplugged my Netgear wnr2000 one night, when I woke up in the morning and plugged it back in the on light went to the orange colour which kept flashing on and off and doesn't do anything else, normally...

You have lost your connectivity between modem and router.

Be sure you always start your network in this sequence:

1. Turn off and unplug the modem from the power outlet. Next, turn off the wireless router
and computer.

2. Turn on the modem and wait 2 minutes.

3. Turn on the wireless router and wait 1 minute.

4. Turn on the computer.

If this does not work, come back to your post let me know and we will try a full reset.

If you connect the computer to the router , it works.
That means the wired connection is OK.
Open the set up page of the router check the wireless settings of the router.
I think your network is secured and you are not typing the correct network key.
just open the router set up and check the wireless settings .
Make sure that the DHCP server on the router is enabled

Drops the internet connection and has to be rebooted at least once a day.

Try to reduce the MTU of the router. If you're on DSL, set the MTU size to 1492, for Cable connection size is 1400 or 1463. You can do it on the router's admin page http://192.168.1.1

Internet connection

The problem may lie with your WiFi adapter on the 2nd computer.. these days NICs (adapters) have a Power Off capability and they will go to 'sleep' to save power.. you can try to resolve this through the Device Manager > Network Adapters > and the Properties of your WiFi adapter.. look for a tab on the Properties named Power Management..

Otherwise, it this is occuring on the WiFi Access Point, look for something in the interface to maintain Persistent Connections.. Since I do not use Netgear, I would have to find the manual to be sure.. but lets try the first option before we go on..
