Philips hts 6600

If the disc stays in for a minute or so, then ejects, you probably have a bad Optical Pickup, bad laser. The pickup must be able to read the Table of Contents off the disc, or it will not think there is no disc in inside, and reject.

Philips HTS 6500 not reading my DVD's

I bought this item in Nov. of '07 and it worked great...for about 3 months then the dreaded no disc message appeared and has ruined my life. Howvever after not using this DVD player for a month or so i had decided to tinker with it to try and get it to work and it appears i have found a solution that is working for me so far. After being fed up with Philips and trying their "solutions" because as we all know the U.S. sells DVD's with the wrong region code (ha funny Philips people) i began trying to make this stupid peice of garbage work in any way. What i came up with is this: 1.) insert your DVD and wait to see what happens. When you get the no disc readings this is what you do. 2) Eject the dvd but do not touch it 3). While the dvd is sitting in the slot press and hold down the play button on the remote control and continue to hold it down 4) it may take awhile but give it a chance, and hopefully the DVD will "resume play" and start anew. If holding the play button down does nothing then try holding it and releasing it in intervals until something happens. If nothing ever happens then i guess you SOL. I know this is not an desired fix to the problem but so far it has worked for me. I noticed this because the stupid thing will would read a cd and this got me thinking. This way is kind of a jump start to get the dvd going....hope this helps someone

Reads NO DISC Philips HTS3400 Home system

Run a dvd cleaner through system, and try again. If that fails, unplug the HTS from the wall outlet for 10-15 seconds, and replug it. If that fails, it will need to be repaired.
