Recovery disk for the model you're looking for is already installed within the hard drive, you can burn the disks out straight from the hard drive. the catch is, you can only do it once. so if you've already burned the recovery disks to CDs (or worse, if this computer belonged to someone else) you won't have access to the recovery disks anymore...

My acer eRecovery is missing

When a person buys a computer, and turns it on for the first time, you are repeatedly asked if you wish to make a Backup.

This is your Restoration (Recovery) disk

Did you make one?

No?

Then either contact Acer for the disk, or buy a fresh, new genuine copy of Windows, and install it.

When asked choose Repair. Non-Destructive Installation.

[Microsoft makes one Master disk. From it all GENUINE copies are made, and sold to the consumer]

Or see if a nearby computer repair shop can repair the basic Windows files.

[NO, I do not agree that the Recovery files are on the harddrive, and not a separate disk.
The reason however, that this method was brought into play, was because of users.

1) Lost the recovery disk.
2) Afraid to use the recovery disk, so they just take it down to a computer shop anyway.

Hmmm, I'm a pre-built computer manufacturer......................

Say the disk costs around 50 cents USD.
If I take that times 100,000 computers, I save $50,000 dollars.

Users don't use them anyway, I can save $50,000 dollars.........hey, whats the problem?
I'll just put it on the harddrive, and tell them to make a Backup disk.

NOW people aren't even making a Backup disk! Sheesh!

Reformat my computer to windows 7

ATTENTION!
Reformatting a computer will reset it to the factor image, all data must be backed up or it WILL be lost. There are several reasons to reformat a hard drive. A few reasons include but are not limited to: driver issues, virus, cleaning up, getting rid of the computer, etc.

RECOVERY DISKS!
Every new windows 7 owner should know that the new computers are not supplied with recovery disks anymore. The manufacturer allows the user to create one set of disks upon the purchase of a new machine. It is important to create the disks early as driver issues and viruses may arise. In order to create recovery disks on windows 7 you want to click on the start menu. Next, type in recovery in the Start Search option area. Next, click on recovery disk creation and follow the process. It will require that you have about 3 dvds or about 7 cds to create the recovery disk.

REFORMATING HARD DRIVE!
Once the recovery disks have been made reformatting windows 7 is quite simple. Insert the recovery disks into the cd/dvd tray on the machine. You are now going to want to turn the computer off. When the computer has turned off, go ahead and turn it back on. A screen should pop up asking you whether you want to boot from Hard Drive or Disk. Choose the disk option. After you make it this far it is a downhill process. Next you follow the on-screen instruction make sure you reformat the machine, not recover it.

I'm trying to recover from Backup Disks made when i first got the computer, I've inserted Factory Default disks 1 + 2. Now its asking for the next Disk. Question 1: What is the next Disk to insert?...

Hi,

The recovery disk consist of 2 DVD, the first is the System Disk (this is first disk to insert), once finished loading, it will ask to insert the second CD (Application and Drivers disk), if in case both are not working, then follow the below mentioned steps:

You can restore the computer back to factory default,to do so, follow the below steps: Turn OFF the computer, now as soon as you hit the power button, keep on holding "Alt" key & keep on tapping "F10" key, i.e Alt+f10, it will open the recovery console, select full factory restore and follow onscreen instruction. NOTE: This will erase all the datas on the computer.

You can also place order for a set of Recovery disk by calling Acer Technical support at 1 800 816 2237

Thanks and regards,

How do I reconfigure, or restore to original settings?

Contact your Computer Manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of Vista Recovery disk/s.

They normally do that for a small $ cost.

Also, ask them if you have a Recovery Partition on your Computer/Laptop to restore it to Factory settings.

See if a Manual came with the computer, or go to the Manufacturer's website, email or phone them for info on how to do a Recovery.

Normally, you would press F10 or F11 at Startup to commence the Recovery Process..

Another way I have seen on some models is to tap F8, and go to a list of Startup options, and start a Factory Standards Recovery from in there, by selecting the Repair computer option.

Also ask them if it is possible to make Recovery Disk/s from the Recovery Partition in case of Hard Drive failure or System Crash.

They will tell you how to do that.

Each Computer Manufacturer has their own way of making Recovery Disk/s.

It won't start up normally, asks for recovery disk, which I cannot find

When you bought the computer, it should have had an application to create your recovery disks, if you didn't make those and you cannot boot into windows, then you will need to contact gateway support and purchase software recovery disks.

How do I download windows XP and burn it

If you are asking what I think you're asking, you cannot do it.
XP is not in "my documents" It is the operating system. You can clone the hard drive or make a disk image, but you can't make an XP disk from your computer.
If your computer has a utility to make recovery disks, you will find that in the Programs list. Many manufacturers require you to make recovery disks, as they don't supply them. In this case, go to the programs list and look for the recovery disk creator.
