When playing regular dvdson my ps3, the screen will sometimes go black for just a second or two then come back on. I sometimes notice a red or green flash of color right before the pic goes out or comes back. I recently reset my ps3 back to default settings, so I'm hoping that this issue is being caused by a setting that I need to tweak. ps3 model # CECHE01 I have the ps3 connected to a 42in plasma tv using a HDMI cable. Thanks.

Ok I have had this happen a few times before. What I do to fix it is disconnect the HDMI cable while everything is still on and playing and then re-insert the cable back into the TV. This re-configures the HDMI signal and should hopefully stop this problem.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa

No this didnt help at all, my samsung tv still turns out black and white, im not using a HDM1 cable im just trying to get the normal tv to work, i have noticed the tv only has the green, blue, and red...

As long as you can see that those ports on the back of you TV say input and not output then your compsit color code is White=audio, Red=audio, Yellow=video. It should work the green, blue, and red is just another type of component use. Good Luck!

Tv and ps3 plugged in and on. av channel shows an empty screen

Follow these steps to resolve your problem:

1. Turn off the PS3 so it only shows a red light. You can hold the power button on the front until it goes into standby. To be sure, flick the power switch on the back of the Play Station 3 off and then back on.

2. Make sure your Play Station 3 is connected to your regular TV (not HDTV) with the standard video cables.

3. Press and hold the power button until the screen "flickers" and then immediately release. This should reset the video settings.

4. Wait a few seconds, and the Play Station 3 (PS3) logo should appear.

If this does not resolve the problem, follow these steps:

3. Press and hold the power button on the front until the Play Station 3 beeps and then turns off again. This should reset the video for you and you can turn it back on after this.

Powers on but nothing happens

It happened to me too. When you plug in your av cables and are ready to play, follow these steps. With your PS3 off (Red light on), Press and hold the power button on your console. (Do not use the controller to turn it on.) Keep holding the button until you hear a second beep. (it takes about 2 to 3 seconds.) You will notice your screen flickers, then your PS3 will show up on the tv. All you did was reset the PS3 display settings. You can always go back to HDMI or AV cables. Have Fun.

Menu will not show up

Yes you can!
TRY THIS cmfin and trey!
Shut the system off in the back then un-plug and re-plug all cords.
Turn the power on in the back.
The ps3 should have a red light on in the front.
Push and HOLD the power button in front!
It will go through a red light to green beep at you then go back to red.
This should HARD reset it.
If you have ever changed tvs or played on a different tv the ps3 will sync itself to that tv.
SO a regular tv is different then my hdtv so it would need to be reset to play on a different tv!
I hope it helps!
