Hansol H550 Monitor-when i switch the monitor on it flashes then goes off. I keep switching the screen on and it just keeps flashing then goes off again. I can do this for a while some times 15 minutes to 30 minutes yesterday it took 75 minutes of pressing the screen on and off before it did eventually come on. I believe it may be the back light , can this be easliy replaced or is it something dramatic that requires a new investment in a new monitor

Most likely the power supply, or the back-plane lamps, or the back-plane supply, or a defect on one of the processor boards is loading the supply too much, or any combinations of these are defective. You will have to have a source to try the boards to fix the monitor. I would suggest to find the authorized service rep for your monitor. They will have to service it for you. If the monitor is out of warranty, the fix will not be cheap!

The monitor keeps flashing on and off? Or does your system keeps trying to reboot which causes the monitor to go on and off. Does the screen turn Blue before it goes off?

Hi, My Hansol H550 used to come on when my PC tower was booting up, but now I have to press the green on/off button. BUt unfortunately, after pressing the on off button the screen only comes on for a split...

Sounds like there is no input to the monitor. Check the video cable(the one with the screws). Even if it looks plugged in, unplug it and replug it at both ends.

A menu keeps flashing on my monitor so fast I can not read it and it will not stop. Black box with grey edge. Compaq 5017M monitor

mrsrobins849, if monitor manufacturing date (on rear of unit) is anywhere close to 2003-2004 then trade unit for new wide screen only if problem of flashing "menu" goes away when you connect a borrowed substitute monitor to your pc. Will your monitor "act" same when connected to "known-good" "fully-booted" pc that will display the WIN-desktop?? Most problems with "cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamp" "back-lit" lcd monitors can be attributed to their internal or external "switch-mode-power-supply" DC voltages degrading over time with use.

I am thinking of buying a used Hansol 550 - three years old. Do they deteriorate with age ? Do all the old models have speakers fitted ?

3 years old will more likely to need new set of caps, not all monitors come with built-in speakers. See failed monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
I would not buy a 3 years old 15", save the money for newer and bigger monitor.

Monitor is blank and the power light keeps flashing green.

When you switch on both Poota and Monitor, is there visual startup flashes or startup information showing on screen.

Make sure the monitor connect to rear of poota is located and firmly in place and properly screwed in?

Flashing on and off

Is the monitor a LCD monitor and does it uses a power adapter?
If this is the case then it could be the power adapter that is faulty or if it is underpowered and the thermal overload cuts in then it switches off and when it cools it switches back on again.
Check the monitors power specs and the adapter should match the power requirements of the monitor or greater (ie. the voltage should be the same but the current rating should be the same or greater).

Hansol H950 19" LCD Monitor

Some of those monitors have had a problem where the large HDMI cable attaches to the back of the monitor. Try inserting the HDMI cable then instead of tightening the screw supports power up the monitor and wiggle it slightly if the monitor works then the problem is in the connector and may need to be resolderd on the inside. have you tried using another HDMI cable to rule out that the cable itself isnt defective?
