Changed the PGI-5BK cartridge because it was empty. I was using one of Office Depot's remanufactured cartridges, which is what I've used previously with good results and no problems. This time I keep getting the message 'Check Cartridge U052'. I've reseated, restored the cartridge that I just replaced, the printer status seems to recognize that the cartridge has been changed and it is a full cartridge- but I can't clear the message or the alarm light. Windows Vista Home Premium/SP1 Canon Inkjet Printer Driver Version 2.00 The versions of all files listed are 2.00.4.13 (when I select properties for the printer in the Control Panel >> Printers.)

Where do you get refill ink for canon fax phoneL80

The Canon Faxphone L80 takes a Canon FX3 cartridge. To get the highest quality refill I would first see if there is a Cartridge World store in your area. Cartridge World stores refill most cartridges in house with American made parts. Then try Office Depot. Office Depot is the only big box store that actually "remanufactures" toner cartridges. I would not recommend cheap refills or refill kits from the internet. Many use very low quality toner that wears on parts leading to print defects or they reuse parts that already generate print defects. DO NOT buy a "compatible" cartridge, these are not refills. They are new cartridge replicas and have no recycled components.

I have a Canon MX850, I don't understand why my big black ink cartridge is full and it uses only the small one, how can I change to use the big one?

The printer use big PGI-5bk cartridge to print documents and text. When you print photos or some other pictures printer use small CLI-8bk cartridge because this cartridge has a photo ink.If you print text and it print blank page that mean the nozzle on PGI-5 cartridge is clogged.Try cleaning test on maintenance menu on printer.

How do I direct my Canon ip4300 Printer to no longer print from the normal black 5BGBK cartridge (empty) but to print from the 8BK (full)

You can't because CLI-8Bk ink cartridge is use only for photo printing. For text, document or gray scale printing the printer use PGI-5Bk.You need to replace your empty PGI-5Bk.

Canon MX850 willnotprint from Large Black Ink Cartridge - PGI-5BK

Ink Carts do act finicky at times. Especially Canon carts.
In many cases, the ink carts have a small fuse built into the back of the cartridge that opens up if the cart has been removed for any reason. Replacement Carts come with the fused portion reset, thus when you insert it into the printer, it works great. If the cart is FULL, it still may not be observed as full or new by the Printer itself. Best way is to use a new cart, not necessarily a Canon Brand. Use an inexpensive company like

Black ink cartridges

Make sure you are not printing with "photo" settings. Reset to defaults from the preferenceies, select plain paper. See if that solves it.
