Maytag msd2454gr side by side. The evaporator coils freeze up and the fridge gets warm. This happened about a year ago and I thawed it out and everything was fine. It happened again about a week ago so I thawed it out and then it happened again about a week later so I assume there is a problem. The timer is working - it cycles into and out of defrost. The heater is working - it gets hot during defrost. I sprayed compressed air onto the thermostat during defrost when the fridge was at room temp after thawing it and the heater came on and turned off during the defrost cycle, and the fan is working. If the timer, heater and thermostat are all good then why do the coils keep freezing up. Does it need a recharge of coolant? Thanks a lot.

How do I determine or trouble shoot the defrost control board?

The only way is to swap out for a new board unless you are an electronics technician. It looks like defrost is controlled by sensors and a board, that than a timer and heater. Time for a new one. Nearly all parts are becoming obsolete.

I have a GE DSS25KSRD side-by-side refrigerator, and it's only 2-3 years old. Recently, from time to time (not always), the upper part of the freezer is not cold enough, and the bottom part of the fridge...

Hows the temp in the fridge side? this could be just going through the auto defrost cycle. It will get warm to melt off the ice on the evaporator coils. Heat rises so it will get warmer at the top. After the defrost cycle, all should return to normal. Make sure the fan runs too. I suspect this is normal... unless your food is thawing out.

Water leaking and freezing at bottom of freezer in side by side Maytag model # msd2454gr refridgerator.

Clean the drain pan and drain line in the back of the freezer section underneath the evaporator coil. (hint: use turkey baster with hot water) Make sure water drains when you pour it in. If it doesn't - also clean drain tube on the back of the unit behind the cover. When done - put the tube exactly where it was.
Good luck! :)

Ice build-up in lower freezer. We replaces the

warm between doors is normal. if hot then clean coils and if coils clean make sure condenser fan motor working thats the fan in the back compartment, however if warm thats good. did the evaporator coil freeze from top to btm is that why u replaced heater. if it was then could be heater,if the coil is only getting frost on half the coil, you could have a sealed system problem. is the evaporator motor working in the frz side if not, then that could be the problem.if coil is froze up it needs to be defrosted. did you defrost coil when you replaced heater,if not try defrosting coils and then wait about 12 hrs and see how it does.

SAMSUNG RB215LASH fridge coil iceing up

Don't think its a control board. I think you need to see if Samsung has a longer sealed system warranty. I think at this time the repair should fall back on Samsung 5 year sealed system. I can send you the service manual and the evaporator information if you like. The problem is most likely a defrost heater in the fresh food evaporator has become defective. And it cannot be replaced without removal of evaporator and heater together. Some idiot had the idea of weaving the defrost heater into the evaporator coils on your model. The heater is part of the evaporator. Which I would say now is part of the sealed system. I think you need to have a talk with your nearest Maytag service team. Samsung is a division of Maytag and because of the issue of the defrost heater being not replaceable without breaking into the sealed system Maytag may honor your concerns. Sorry I could not bring better news. But feel it's better to let you know. If you need me let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze

MSD2454GR Side by Side refrigerator- freezer side fine, refrigerator side will not cool below 50 degrees; lots of condensation

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat.

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp ..

Water is leaking from the freezer to thge floor. I is a side by side Maytag refrigerator

I had a simular problem - it is EASY to fix once you know what it is. "They" don't tell you that you should clean out the drain once a year..."they" would rather you call a repair man. Empty out the freezer side and remove the bottom panel inside the freezer. If you don't know how to do this google your fridge type and model number and you should be able to find directions to do so. In the very bottom is a drain that can get clogged with ice. Using a hair dryer and hot/warm water melt and gently break away all the ice. Poor hot/warm water over it till completely thawed out. What is supposed to happen with this drain is moisture is supposed to go to a pan under the fridge and evaporate. When it is clogged the water spills out onto the floor. If I can do this anyone can. I was about 50 years old and a woman when I first did this.

Maytag MZD2766GE side by side, fridge not getting cold.

Your timer for the automatic defrost is defective. Replace it. If you thawed out the back of the freezer, this could be good for 3-7 days and it will freeze up again. I had the same trouble.

Maytag MZD2766GES side-by-side Refrigerator warm

is it frozen up? do you have any air flow thru the air tunnel from the freeze to the fridge? Check your air flow with the door switch pushed in. also check to see if the damper door opens... 1) if it is iced up you have a defrost problem. most likely a defrost timer. Turn off or unplug untill all the ice has melted off the evaporator back of the freezer..plug back in and it will work fine untill the ice builds up again. if this work you do have a defrost problem.. if not let me know and we can go deeper...
