The "clean light" on our Kitchenaid KUDIO1FLSS flashes 7 times and I cannot clear the problem to allow the unit to operate. Is there a sequence, using the control buttons, to permit the unit to run a system check? I disconnected the power for 30 minutes but that did not solve the problem.

Flashes seven times, it usually indicates a problem with the water temperature.
Go to this site for reset information, if that'll fix it.

SOURCE: Clean Light Flashes

I found this post elsewhere. It seems to have worked for me: Our KitchenAid KUDP series dishwasher went into a mode where it would not start and would only respond to the cancel/drain button. The clean light would flash 7 times in a row, stop, and then repeat. I read that the 7 flashes indicates an error code and that the dishwasher has detected a problem in the heater element circuit. I tried to reset the error mode by turning off power for 15 minutes, however, that did not work.
We called for a repair. The service person found that the dishwasher was completely fine except that it had gone into an error mode. The technician reset the error mode and charge us $115.00.

The reset sequence used was reported to be the following:
1) Crack the door open.
2) Within 3 seconds press the following sequence - Hi Temp Scrub, Energy Saver Dry, Hi Temp Scrub, Energy Saver Dry
3) Close and latch the door
4) Press the cancel button (the circle with the triangle in it)

We were told the dishwasher expects to see the dish water temperature rise in a certain way. If the water does not heat in this way, the dishwasher becomes confused and thinks the heater element has failed. In deed, this happened just following and extended power failure and our hot water tank was cool. I am curious if this code will work for anybody else with the same problem and save a service call and 115 bucks. Overall, this seems to be a serious logic flaw in the design.

SOURCE: Clean light flashing 7 times. Can't start the machine

Thank you so much! I have not used my dishwasher for almost 2 years. I called a repair man the first time the "clean" light started flashing. He pushed some buttons, and 3 minutes later he was gone with a smile ( after having left a $100.00 repair bill). I have been contacting Kitchenaid and my dealer for months. No help - no service.
Nothappy, I fixed the problem with your help. 3 minutes later and the machine is chugging away.  I will never buy a Kitchenaid product again. Not because the products aren't good but - the after service is horrible.

SOURCE: Kitchenaid dishwasher - door will not latch

The latch needs to be replaced. Kitchen Aid has made two updates to this latch. I.E. 2-revised latches. I just replacd the latch assembly and the dishwasher works fine now. Do a search for kitchen aid repair parts online and hav them shipped to your home. The repair takes five minutes. Un-screw all torx bit screws on door and the latch is under neath. One electrical dip switch held on by another screw and a two prong tab to undo the old latch. This seriously took me five minutes to repair and the parts were $40.00 online shipped.

Hope his helps.

Clean light flashes on and off 7 times, then a pause. Then repeats the sequence. Machine will not start regular cycle.

The clean light blinking 7 times can indicate a heater failure.
Press Heated Dry, Normal Washer, Heated Dry, and Normal Wash.
This sequence will run a diagnostic test and clear the error temporarily but if the dishwasher is not heating the water the error will happen again.
If the problem is a reoccurring one then I recommend checking the heater amps if you have access to a clamp-on volt/amp meter.
Remove power to the dishwasher and remove the access panel. See image below. Clamp the meter around the black or white wire at the junction box and restore power and run the test cycle. During the test the heater will come on and the meter should pick up about 8-10 amps. If you get no amp draw then the heater is not working and is the cause of the clean light blinking 7 times

Will not cycle. clean light flashing 7 times and then goes out, and then flashes 7 times, and this is a constant sequence

Hi

If clean light is blinking 7 times then it may be an issue with heater circuit, door switch or wash pump. If yes then please reset the power to the dishwasher. After, 5 minutes check if you are still getting the same error. If yes, then it is a water heating fault. To resolve this error try pressing this reset sequence-- Heat Dry - Normal - Heat Dry - Normal or High Temp - Air Dry - High Temp - Air Dry or Hi Temp Scrub, energy saver dry, Hi Temp Scrub, energy saver dry. Now let the unit run for 2-3 minutes and then you press the Cancel/Drain button and allow it to completely drain and reset.
If this doesn't work then it's an issue with the wash pump not pumping the water past the heater efficiently or due to lack of water to heat. Please make sure that heater is not open circuited and is heating the water efficiently. You'll have to check the heater using a multimeter; the meter should read between 3000 to 3300 ohms (Use multimeter on Rx1 ohm setting). If heater is fine then make sure water pressure is optimum and fill valve is working fine. Hope this helps... Please post back for further assistance.

We have a kitchenaid dishwasher model#kud102irbl serial#FU1705420 Clean light keeps flashing on 7 times, waits a few seconds and flashes 7 times again. How can we repair this?? Dishwasher will not leave...

If the clean light flashes 7 times, pauses, then repeats...

When the dishwasher doesn't sense a water temperature increase, it will stop working and lock the functions (clean light flashes 7 times, all buttons are non responsive). It does this as a safety in case the element is broken and feeding electrical current into the water.

To resolve this you will have to reset the console. Do this by closing the door and press these buttons in sequence...

-high temp wash
-heated dry
-high temp wash
-heated dry

...all the lights will turn on briefly and the machine will start a diagnostic cycle. You can press cancel or let the diagnostic cyle finish (1-2 minutes).
You should now be able to run the dishwasher as normal.

If the issue returns, you could have a problem with the heating circuit (ie. element, thermostat or wiring). It rarely happens but it could also be the door switch not engaging properly when the door is closed (slightly bend the door latch down making sure it doesn't hit the door when you close it).

Clean light flashing 7 times. Can't start the machine

The cleam light blinking means that the unit was not able to reach a proper heated wash cycle. Either your heating element failed orthe actual sump/pump motor system has failed. Check the element in the botton and see if it looks broken anywhere. If you can see a broken spot, you will k now that is the trouble.

Good Luck!
