Nvidia fx 5200 driver problem on dell 8300 PC? Hi, I recently tried to upgrade to XP home sp3 on my dell 8300 and video became unstable. believe that the graphics card driver was updated without my knowing. had so many problems that I reinstalled XP sp1. I have reinstalled all my drivers except the FX 5200 (128/integrated/agp). every driver I download (from dell (not cert) and 93.71 forceware, recognizes the 5200 (in device mgr) but causes crazy flickering black screen and limits display to basic colors,800x600, and instability. I am using an acer 22 lcd display at 60hz like before. when I uninstall the driver, the generic VGA driver kicks in and everything works basically ok (at 1024x768) but device manager has the VGA monitor and pci device with exclamations (no idea what this is but is there when 5200 is recognized too). if I cannot find appropriate driver, can I stay with the generic vga adapter which seems to work (did it pick up 5200 in roundabout way? And if so, is there a way to keep that as default so each time I upgrade service packs etc that it won't reset? any help would be appreciated before I pull out all my hair! my service tag is g5d8x31. thanks. ps- xp may have been installed in bios os mode on. not sure if pci device conflict in device manager is from 56k modem I decided not to install driver for.

edit: the 56k modem driver was already installed so no idea what the pci device conflict I am getting in device manager is for.

Hi, i have had that problem before and its wasn't the graphics card drivers, it was loose, anyway for you case go to device manager and uninstall the graphics drivers from there then restart and install then manual by updating and locate the exact location from the cd or any other location that has them.

SOURCE: I have a Dell Vostro 400 and two video cards. Only

you cant join two different platform vga cards. simply because they have their own platform and have separate drivers, so they conflict each other thus causing one of them shut off or disable..

Uninstall your previous graphics card drivers and install the ones for your 5200, if that doesn't work try getting the new drivers from the nVidia site or just smash it with a hammer!

No signal on HDTV

Your graphics card is probably too old to support HDTV signal (720p, 1080p)

Games problems

try to use a low version of a driver or download this detonator. it will operate only on some features of your video card it wont push the video card to the limit so that you wont experience any mixing color while playing in warcraft. by the way just adjust the configuration of your warcraft in video so that you will enjoy your game with no hassle. hope that helps!

Nvidia fx 5200

The only time that this can happen is if the driver is not installed correctly, as on install you are normally asked if you want to activate support for dual monitors, so if you havent already, uninstall the card driver, restart and install driver again from the cd or from the NVIDIA website. http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_93.71.html If you have already tried this my apologies.
