Re: "Cannon MP600 printer shut itself down during printing operation ."

If a Canon inkjet printer is turning itself off, then problem is either control board or power unit. When this happens printer is often considered beyond repair, and in any case it must be tested by a technician to find out the problem.Repair involves testing volts out from power unit and testing components on main board.
Considering that the MP600 is quite an expensive inkjet, I suggest contacting Canon support and asking a quote on repair.

Mac Mini G4 turns itself ON

Have you looked into System Preferences>energy saver>schedule? Maybe it's set up to start itself. I have my mother's mac set to start up and shut down automatically. Just a thought.

Printer went off. Lost power and won't turn back on.

Try "reinitializing" the device (printer):

  1. Shut down the computer system the printer is connected to.
  2. Unplug the printer power cord from both the printer and its power outlet.
  3. Wait at least 5-10 minutes, then re-plug both ends back in.
  4. Switch on the power button to the printer (if no indicator light is on).
  5. Restart (reboot) system.
Also, you can also rule out it being a failed power outlet by trying a different one to plug the printer into.

Good luck, and please post back to let me know how things work out, or if you have any further questions.
