My PS2 game locks up in the middle. Tried using another disc of the same game still locks up at that same event. What could be wrong? I haven't encountered this problem before. One more thing, does Action Replay codes cause lock ups such as this. Cause lately I have been using one.. PLease help... Anyone... Thanks in advance....
I have the same problem, but only with Formular1 2006 PS2, it only locks in the qualifying sessions, for eg. when my time is up and i wait for the other drivers to finished it just stays there at the time screen, i still can hear the cars drive by but cant esc the qualifying screen, all i can do is reset the console...and yea have tried 3 diff dvd's of the game to no success??? mArC

Mine does the same but it wan't play any of my games when I want to play it . I tryed keeping the cd clean that didn't work, then I tryed the system you know blowing it out, cleaning the dirt out of it. I don't know I was thinking about getting a brand new one but I know it'll cost me that much. Please dont tell me you used action replay...it will destroy your systems insides your ps2 cant handel the information it sounds like it might be overloaded

It means that the PS2 can't read the disc. Playstation 2s in the US are NTSC, while those in the UK are PAL. PAL discs can not be played on an NTSC PS2, and NTSC discs can not be played on a PAL console. This is because the consoles are region-locked and you can only play games from the region the PS2 itself was sold in.
Your system needs a mod chip to play games on a disc that was not created by Sony.
Most ps2 games are DVD's only some are cd's.. All of the ps1 games are cd's so if you burnt it onto a dvd its not going to work.
Check to see if the top lid is closed correctly. Probably one of the small locks on front of it has broken off and the Playstation 2 wont spin the disc. Check to see if they are intact as well. If this is not the problem then you should probably call the PlayStation 2 Support Line, or just call up Sony.
if its in a region lock, its impossible to be played on a American PS2, if your PS2 is modded it will read any region locked discs, the only possible solution is to buy a Japanese Version PS2
IF THE DISC IS NOT BEING READ THEN THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE LENS INSIDE THE PS2. IF IT IS BEING REA THEN TRY OPENING THE PS2 TAKE OF THE TOP. LOCATE THE TRAY COVER AND THERE IS A WHITE OBJECT IN THE MIDDLE, TRY SPINING IT. IF IT DOSEN'T MOVE THEN PLAY WITH IT UNTIL ITS LOOSE. ThEN TRY PLUGIN BACK THE PS2 AND INSERTING A GAME (DO NOT PUT THE TOP BACK ON) INSERT THE GAME AND SEE IF THE WHITE OBJECT IS TURNING WHEN THE DISC IS READING..

It could be a couple of things. Most likely being that your disc is scratched, and everytime about 30 minutes into the vdeo game or Movie, your system cannot read the data and just stops finctioning. Try a different disc to see if it locks up on it at the same timing.
The other thing that may be aggrevating your Console and causing it to lock is dust and lint build up. If the dust and lint bloack the heat from getting out it will lock up on you say after 30 minutes or less. open your case and clean all the dust and lint out.
