Blank screen For some reason the LCD of my ixus 70 won't show me my images. It's still capable of showing color and stuff but when you take a picture, the screen just shows the menus but remains blank. I can't see the images after I've taken them either. Anybody know what's going on?

When you transfer this pics at pc... they are purple too? Could be a problem with the LCD screen viewer or CCD Image sensor go to bad. In both cases this isn't a job that you could solve yourself; this wrong include distorted images or abnormal colors, scratchy purple lines, blank or black pictures, and/or black videos with good sound being recorded on the camera's flash card.

Take a picture with the new battery pack. Is the picture also blank? Are the menu selections still visible in the LCD? Have you tried pressing the DISP button on the back, but the screen still remains blank?

A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open).

To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. i also have this kind of prob for my ixus. the menu is operating very well, except its shooting - i can only show a black blank screen.
