It could be a problem with wiring or the terminals inside the camera preventing it from receiving enough power from your batteries.

If your camera takes AA batteries It could be that your re-chargeable batteries need to be replaced, so perhaps pick up a set of high powered lithium (single use) batteries at the store and try them out. If the camera works, you know it is not a fault with the camera.

If this is the case, we then need to determine whether the fault is with your batteries or the charger. You could buy a new set of rechargeable batteries and check that they charge correctly. If they do, it was the old batteries, if they don't, it may be the charger.

If you find that the fault is with your camera, you could try cleaning the terminals inside the battery compartment of your camera with a cotton bud,

Fast flashing green light when trying to charge

usually fast flashing charge is faulty battery its trying to get volts in to the battery. you see the battery has a charging board on the battery not in the camera the camera sends the volts to the battery and the battery tells the camera its voltage, and when at the right volts stops charging. but these batteries can only be charged to around 10000hrs depending on the type of battery. you see when you get a new battery you need to charge it before use, now this can be 6hrs to 12hrs for fist time use if you interrupted the charge or have a power cut while it charges it can damage the charging chip in the battery. if this does the flashing light on other batteries then the signal is not being read by the camera and the camera can be faulty on the charging circuit, usually (sometimes) removing the battery for a few hours can fix this but it will rest the camera. hope this helps you.

Wont turn on

If you think this has to do with the battery power, you also should check the contacts in the battery compartment. If the are not shiny, you can try to clean them with a dry cloth or a cotton swap. Don't use sharp tools in or close by a camera.
Make sure the battery is inserted correct and the battery cover should be locked correct.
If the camera was not used for a long time, perhaps some contacts are oxidised. Those contacts you can switch, try to switch them several times. Open and close the battery door several times. Press the on of button several times. Put the battery in and remove it several times. And hope the contacts will work again.

My video camera (SDR-H18) wont charge...the battery lights up when charging but when i put it in the camera the camera wont turn on...whats the problem?

It sounds like a bad battery. If you have another battery, or a direct power plug for the camera, try those to determine if the camera itself functions. If so, you can safely assume the battery is the problem. If the power plug works but not a different battery, you may have dirty or corroded contacts where the battery attaches to the camera. If changing the battery works, the old one should be returned if under warranty, recycled if not, or you could leave it on the charger for several hours to see if it can complete a charge at all. If not, get a new battery.

When the battery is in the charger it flashes red & won't charge, have no idea what problem is! Have casio exilim lithium ion NP-20 battery & a casio exilim 7.2 megapixels camera. Can't turn camera...

I called casio and they told me that when you have a red flashing light on the charger it means the lithium battery is no longer any good. They offered to send me one free of charge. It's been several weeks and I have yet to receive it.

My cam won't turn on!!!

sounds similar to my problem - after several times of occuring & working again apparently by chance I now think problem is caused by taking out main battery whilst camera switched on causing a software problem - try taking out both batteries for a long time (I did an hour) so camera forgets all it knows including date etc & reverts to factory settings. Make sure main battery is charged & replace both batteries - I did this & camera now seems fine - though haven't tried to recreate fault !

Does it work with "no batteries" - only plugged into power source? check your usb cable by trying to power up something else.
