D40x and TIFF images

Having gone over a month with no response, I assume this is no longer a problem.

After entering the comment, make sure you check the "Attach comment" box. Otherwise the comment will not be attached to the files.

to turn this setting off just press the down arrow button when reviewing your photos. you will scroll through a number of ways to view tho photo including histogram, and one of the settings is just the picture.

you must have changed the option to store the images in .tiff format so while storing in tiff format it compresses the image so it takes time for u ... so i suggest u to change that setting to .jpg uncompressed mode by doing this though it takes more space and allows u to store less photos in memory but it will fast while storing ...
in .tiff format as it compresses the image it takes time but the memory usage will be low this allows u to store more photos...

In your custom settings no 15 Auto Timers you can set the time.

1. If you are using TIFF mode for uncompressed images, the camera takes much longer to process the image because of the very large file size. It takes longer between shots and longer to play back a TIFF image. The TIFF setting on the camera Top LCD Display is 'No Stars' (One Star = Basic, Two Stars = Normal, Three Stars = High Resolution, No Stars = be patient for TIFF). Unless you are doing professional images, we suggest that you use the normal or high resolution JPG settings (Two or Three Stars / FULL) for good results. 2. If the camera can not focus on a subject, or can not determine the appropriate exposure setting, the camera will beep and disable the shutter button. This is to avoid improper processing of the image. This is usually due to either poor lighting conditions or movement. 3. The camera Flash Element requires ten seconds to recharge between images. Although the camera is ready to continue capturing images almost immediately in bright (daylight) settings, if you are using Flash photography the Flash element will need to charge between shots. 4. The batteries may be running low. LCD Display, Flash, and Playback use much more power than taking pictures. It is possible to quickly consume battery power, even if you are not taking many pictures. Try turning the Mode Dial to the OFF position to recycle power. If the camera beeps and will not take a picture under normal conditions, you may need to change batteries.

You may be pressing the shutter all the way down at once. This forces the camera to focus, make exposure adjustments, and capture the image all at once. By pressing the shutter button partially to focus, then the rest of the way to capture the image, your camera can process pictures more quickly. If you are taking a picture in Uncompressed Tiff mode, the camera takes longer to process the image. Tiff images create large files and can take approximately 32 seconds to process. If you are trying to capture large, high quality images that you can print, try setting the camera to HyPict mode instead of Tiff mode.

TIFF will always show up on the monitor when you scroll to it. If you adjust the Image Quality on the monitor, it will remember your setting even if it shows TIFF when you scroll back to it at another time.

Yes. When displayed, an uncompressed (TIFF) digital image is clearer and higher quality than a compressed (JPEG) image. You should remember, however, that it takes longer to save an uncompressed image, which means that the recording interval between images is longer.
