I have downloaded the drivers and software, but i don't know what to do next to install the printer. Please help!

1) Make SURE the Canon printer is NOT attached to the Inspiron when installing the software!

Why?

When a device is installed (In this case the device is a printer), Windows 'breaks it's neck' to find suitable matching drivers.

If THE drivers are not already there, Windows will match up one of it's THOUSANDS of generic, one-size-fits-all, drivers.
This = NO

A driver conflict will result when THE drivers are installed afterwards;

Windows: "Which drivers do I use? These or THESE?"

Drivers and software is installed FIRST, then the printer is plugged into the computer, and turned on.

If you have just downloaded the drivers, I suggest you go back, and download the Software AND the drivers /package.
You need the software for the user interface.

When you see the file name DOUBLE-click on it.

Then follow the easy instructions of the Installation Wizard.
(Just click on Next, Next, and Finish, at the bottom of the three small windows)

(Don't forget to Restart the computer after the drivers and software is installed. Then when Windows has loaded again connect the printer to the computer with the USB cable, and turn the printer on.

After a couple of seconds you should see a message out of the system task bar, at the bottom of the monitor screen;

"Found new hardware", and then after perhaps another one;

"Found Canon LBP XXXX" )

Please visit the Lexmark website to download and install the Lexmark X4270 printer driver on your computer. Select your operating system > click on "FILTER" > click on the driver under Recommended Downloads > download and execute the file. Simply follow the instructions on your computer screen to complete the installation.

You will have to select your operating system. On the next page, you should see a + sign beside Driver - Product Installation Software. Click it and select the software to install your printer.

You can download it from the HP Official Download Site, please click this LINK, select your Operating System and click "Next", and then click "Driver - Product Installation Software", read the description of the blue links (if there is more than two links) and click one of the blue links to download the available/suitable driver. Click on START button
Right click on Computer and left Click on Properties
From the New Window Check for System Type : It will be mentioned as 32 bit operating system or 64 bit operating system. ( Remember this )

I assume you have not installed the complete software for your Printer.
Click on the link below to download the drivers for Vista O/s for the printer.
When the page is open - Choose the Operating system and click on Next Button.

Click on Drivers and Product installation option and click on HP Full Feature Software and Drivers
Click on Download button on top and click SAVE ( Remember the location you save the file )
You need to run the downloaded software.
Disconnect the USB Cable from printer before you start the installation as the screen will prompt you when you connect it.

You can still download and install the software/driver from here [click here], you'll need to select the operating system, eg. windows xp or windows 7 etc.. Once the page is opened, click the "select..." just below the "Select your operating system, then click 'Next':" and select the operating system, then click "Next" button. All the available softwares/drivers for the selected operating system will be shown on the next page, check the description of the available applications and click the link to download. Follow the onscreen instructions to proceed with the download steps.
