I'm having trouble with my Finedrive 350, when I connect it to my USB port nothing happens. I cannot load any music, pictures or maps onto the SD card. It comes with the USA map on it, but I live in Canada. I have the supplied map file for Canada but can't get it on the GPS (which makes it useless to me). On Fine Digital's site it explains of a file I need to download on my computer to fix the problem, but does not offer a link. Any help?

Re: Finedrive USB connect problem
Follow these directions and you should get it working in no time
1. Make a folder on your memory card called "Startup" 2. Go into your registry and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Explorer\Shell Folders\Startup 3. Change the value from \windows\startup to \sdmmc\startup. sdmmc is the name of the storage card on the findrive 350

i can guide you through the prossess of connecting it through a usb cable, and can suggest other options that will enable you to get music onto your phone if this fails.
You cannot put music strait onto youe phone from the cd first it needs to be ripped onto your computer, and converted into an mp3 file so that the phone can play this. if you cannot do this, then reply to this solution, or post it as another question.
USB Cable Link
turn on your phone and pc and plug the cable into both
look on the phone screen to see if it is asking anything. if it asks what mode you wish to use, choose FILE TRANSFER.
depending on your computor different things may happen, but it should install automatically.
once this is done, your phone will act and appear on your computor the same a memory stick would.
to add music (or any other type of file) just got to my computor, double click on your phone, go to the music file, and simply paste the music you have ripped from your cd there
if you have any questions or trouble will this contact me on my account
please take the time to rate this solution thanks :)
If you have a nuvi 350 download the software to your computer and then load the software onto a formatted sd card. Insert the sd card and bootup the Nuvi 350. The sofware will then load onto the Nuvi 350. If you have a Nuvi 200 I would think it works the same but I have not tried it.
Hope this helps
The CD has everything. You can copy the maps and and the OPSYS to the SD card from the CD. As I have told others, though, the mapset is from 2005 and the man at the factory told me they do not intend to produce an update to the mapset.
Also, the 350 was not made by Fine Tech. It was made by Navtour. In fact, the Navtour 147 is the same electronics in a different package. You can download the mapset at: http://www.navtour.com/
Your music and pictures need to be installed onto a SD memory card. Take an empty card and copy the MP3 or pictures onto the card. Install the card into the GPS. Use the correct player (for pics or MP3) and see if it detects the music on the memory card.
It seems like it works the same way if you were to put music or photos onto a Palm. It may need a special folder on the card to read the photos or MP3s. I would put it into the GPS first, let the GPS format it, and see if it creates folders for them.
you have to use an SD card with your MP3s in it, I dont think there is much room left in the factory SD card with maps and you probably dont want to risk erasing it anyway. just remember to put the map card back in before navigating.
I have a cd with the programming, including the maps. If you send me a blank with a SASE, I will copy the disk and send it back to you. Or, if you'd rather, send the data card and I can reload it and return it to you. I have learned from FineDrive that no further updates of the 2005 maps on the cd are expected to be forthcoming. NavTour has not answered me yet. They may be able to fix any battery or card problems.
