The oven stopped working so I replaced the oven element (ES101150) successfully. Now a year later the grill has stopped working so I replaced the grill element (ES548158). When I switched back on again the oven light flashed on and then cut out. Now the fan, the oven, the light and the grill all don't work but the timer still works. Is there an internal fuse somewhere ? Help please!

Re:The oven stopped working so I replaced the oven element (ES101150) successfully. Now a year later the grill has stopped working so I replaced the grill element (ES548158).

The first success had been a lucky dip. before replacing an element you have to read Ohms at element, if reads infinity (open) replace it, if not, read volts coming from timer board.

Re:Now the fan, the oven, the light and the grill all don\'t work but the timer still works. Is there an internal fuse somewhere ?

There is no fuse. Depending on the country of use, the power cord may be fused, but if the timer is working, that is not the problem.

The grill element should be a double element in this model. Grab the old grill element and read Ohms, to find out if the old one was open. If one of the elements was open, then the element was bad. If it was not , then there was a different problem causing no heat. The circuit comes from timer board, passes through temperature sensor and powers fan and element. The job is done reading Ohms to find out if there is an open in wiring to grill, and if there is none, reading Volts at OEC (oven timer) contacts to find out if timer is working (timer is expensive).

Parts for this oven are scarcely available from third party, better ordering from manufacturer through the number listed on the owners manual.

Smeg oven stopped working

This tutorial will show you how to check your Smeg element and how to replace your Smeg cooker element.
Here are the 3 main faults to look for in your oven or cooker that is not heating
  1. Your oven will not work until the clock/timer has been re-set after replacing an oven element or tripping the electrical supply. Consult your Smeg manual.
  2. If your Oven is not getting hot or heating up it could be a faulty element, if the fan in the oven is running and the thermostat light is on, this will lead us to believe that the element has gone faulty. With grills the thermostat light should come on there should be heat, if not then this could be the grill element or the thermostat.
  3. When you turn the oven on, the household electrical supply trips on the Rcd (this is the earth trip in the fuse board sometimes called the breaker tripping) your fan oven element has gone to earth and needs replacing.

The grill on my Hotpoint EW 41 Electric freestanding cooker has stopped working after my wife put aluminum foil into the grill pan which then touched the grill element causing it to 'blow' and so...

The grill element should not 'blow' by just touching it - it should be earthed. The elements do gradually disintegrate over time & the inside wire element either fractures or touches the element casing causing the mains to trip. Sometimes this makes it trip just once & then stops working. Replace the element - not usually any fuse in circuit with this. Often held in by 2 screws adjacent to the element at back of oven and conections via Fast-ons- Rick

I have a Belling 652BL cooker. The grill and top oven have stopped working, but the rings and the main fan oven continue to work as normal. The troubleshooting section in the user instructions suggests...

ISOLATE MAINS POWER BEFORE OPENING SIDE AND REAR PANELS.
The grill and top oven have as discribed in the manual a temp regulator it is mounted on the side or rear chassis, this is probabily blown, they are normaly connected, when the devise goes faulty it stays open circuit, there are letters and numbers on this, take a note of them if you can read it. go to a local electrical store with the component, you should get a replacement, if however you have a multimeter, measure across the terminals with the meter on resistance, if no continuity, or contiunity to the case, the component is faulty. If however the component checks out working go to timers and remove the time on the auto timer for the top oven, visualy check the elements if the element have Black Grey spot, replace as it has blown, you can get spares at relativly low price you will need model and serial number of the appliance, from whitegoods.co.uk

Oven not working - rest of appliance fine

It is most likely that the oven heating element has failed and will need to be replaced.

This not an overly expensive part to have replaced and should be much less than the cost of buying a new oven although you would need to compare actual costs in your area.

The main oven is not working, no fan or heat could this be a fuse? Stopped spontaneously, top oven and grill are working perfectly, only 2 years old. thank you

This sound like the heat element for the main oven is burnt out, replace the main heating element and this should correct the problem.

Hotpoint cooker, grill doesn't work but top oven does

If the elements 'look' okay, they probably are. The 'infinite control switch' is probably the problem. With out the use of a meter, it's guess work. Unless you can see a connection problem.

Stoves 720ef grill not working

The grills appear to be independant of each other. Does the oven still work and the oven light come on?

Depending on your answer it could be that the Top Oven Switch has gone faulty. The Grill Regulator and the Switch work together on the top oven. To get at both you will need to take the top of the oven off.
