Question about Samsung Cameras

Open Question

My samsung digimax u-ca 401 does not capture pictures as they are. The monitor shows dark images even outside and its not to do with the settings. I think the lens has a problem because one time when this happened, a few taps on the lens brought the images bright. I have tried tapping again but nothing seemd to work. What do I do as I got this as a gift and do not have the option of returning it!

SOURCE: Dark image....even using flash.

The problem here is likely the auto setting. Put it to sunny, clear day instead of indoor picture and you should be ok. Also, point it at neutral colored objects when you take the picture and allow it time to adjust by holding the button in partway before depressing it fully.

SOURCE: Flash makes my pictures too bright/too dark

u might want to try and put a coffee filter over your flash when you take pictures to make the flash less bright. it sounds really silly but it actually works.

SOURCE: samsung nv10 - bad image unusable

I phone up customer services and they said that the problem is likely to be mechanical, therefore, the best thing to do is to send it in to them to the address on the back of the instruction manual with a covering letter explaining your problem. You have to include a proof of purchase (such as a receipt/bank statement/confirmation email) and don't include any accessories when you send it (eg. cases, memory cards) by recorded mail.
Hope this helps, missjessd

SOURCE: overexposed photos in otherwise normal settings in casio ex-s500

I had the same problem with my EX-Z700. According to the repair guy, lots of Casio cameras have a problem with the flat cable that connects the shutter mechanism to the camera.

I need to get an operator's manuel.

At the website www.samsungcamera.com site you can download the manual and the driver for the Samsung Digimax 401 and the Digimax 4010 which are the same camera.

To get there go to the site and click on SUPPORT then at the bottom of page select page number 9 or in SEARCH type in 401 which will take you to the Digimax 401. DON'T FORGET THE DIGIMAX MODELS 401 AND 4010 ARE THE SAME. I proved it since I compared my 4010 manual to the PDF for 401 and page per page identical. You will have to select a language for the manual and assume also for the camera driver. I found that the Samsung site was not user friendly when I first used it looking for the 4010 model which is not listed but the 401 is there.

Hope this helps.

Is San Disk memory card compatible with Digimax 401 ? I inserted one and got the message card errior.

Hi,
SD Memory Card is compatible with your Digimax 401 camera. You just need to format the card.
Formatting a memory card
** This is used for formatting the memory card. If you run [FORMAT] on the memory card, all
images, including the protected images, will be deleted. Be sure to download important
images to your PC before formatting the memory card.
** If the memory card is not inserted, the internal memory will be formatted.
** Be sure to format the memory card if you are using a newly purchased or non-initialized
memory card, if it contains data that the camera cannot recognize, or if it contains images
captured with a different camera.

Formatting a Memory Card
1. In any mode other than Voice Recording mode, press the MENU button.
2. Press the LEFT/ RIGHT button and select the [SETUP] menu tab.
3. Select the [FORMAT] menu by pressing the UP/ DOWN button and press the RIGHT button.
4. Select a desired sub menu by pressing the UP/ DOWN button and press the OK button.
- If [No] is selected : The memory card will not be formatted.
- If [Yes] is selected : A [PLEASE WAIT!] message appears and the memory card will be formatted. If you ran FORMAT in Play mode, a [NO IMAGE!] message will appear.

You just need to format the card in the camera. This will completely erase it so download any pics first using a card reader if necessary.

Camera connection turns pc screen blue

A typical issue if the host PC's motherboard drivers were never installed. This and more at http://www.usbman.com Sadly, you didn't tell the make/model/chipset of the host PC so I can't comment further.
