On 2006 EZGO electric golf cart, 36 volt. Cart intermittently goes very very slow. Sometimes, after backing up then will go normal 19 MPH. Turn it off and the goes slow again. facts - batteries tested and show 6 volts each and full set tests at 36v. Cart never had this problem until ran out of power and was towed about 1000 yards. I was told by by the person towing the cart that he put the control switch from Run to Tow. Any ideas what the problem could be?

He may not have known to put it in tow mode and doesn't want to get blamed for damage to transmission towing it in wrong gear.

SOURCE: golf cart smoking

It is most likely related to the rings, but running it would unstick them very fast if they were stuck. It's possible that sitting let rust develop in the cylinder walls and there may be some grooves in them now. They could also just be really worn cylinders. They make some oil conditioners which I wouldn't recommend on a car, but might work fine on a golf cart. I can't recall the name, but it was in a silver can, maybe called engine restore... You could always try that before resorting to a rebuild.

SOURCE: batteries run out of power too quick, what is my problem

The voltage should be above 37 volts if you have 6 volt batteries. This must be measured under load. A simple voltage check is useless. If the batteries are over 6 years old, they are probably in need of replacement.

36 volt ezgo

First of all, lift rear axle off the ground and place blocks or jack stands underneath. Check to see if you have 36 volts On your batteries. Now you want to run a jumper across the big cables on the solenoid. Press the accelerator and the motor should engage. Clicking is a pretty sure sign that the solenoid is bad. Please let me know if this is useful. I can further elaborate more troubleshooting if this doesn't solve your problem.

EZGO golf cart won't go forward

Your batteries have died. The reason it will barely move in reverse is that current is being supplied to the motor is a direction that it spends very little time using. There is a slight change in the armature over time, and reverse tends to work better over time. Check the voltage when under load. (run jumper wires from the + and - of the battery bank. If it is a 36 volt cart and the voltage drops to below 36 volts, you do not have enoug current to run the cart. Plug in the charger and watch the ampmeter. If it goes up to about 20 amps, then it is charging. It should take a good charge after 10 hours. If the cart charges and only runs a short distance, the batteries need replacing.
