Go into:
menu, settings, phone, calibration

that how to calibrate it .... even after calibrating it if you still cant navigate to the main menu

All you do is get your vaccuum the handheld part and just go thru the edges as it **** out all dirt and water particles that may exist. It only takes about a minute. After you **** the screen and the back of the phone without taking out the battery the calibration should work again!

If it still doesnt work
turn the phone upside down and drag your finger across the button. I guess what had happened is you used it so much the sensor got pushed down in the black part where it says SAMSUNG.

If it still wont help.... its better to have it checked for any internal component failure.

Hi,

To recalibrate follow this procedure.
Go to setting>phone setting>calibrate

The calibrate screen pops up follow the screen and with the finger or stylus click on the cross image. It will ask for 2-5 times until it is able to detect your response time. Then save the changes.

If you are not able go into menu settings. To make the calibration to Factory setting.(Take back up of all data)
Reset is the only option if you want to take it to the Factory setting.

If you want get it back to factory settings.
full reset:*2767*3855#
default code:000000

If still after the old calibration if you have problem with the touch screen.
Take apart the screen and remove all the dirt and water particles.

If still you have the problem check for any internal component failure.Check flex is properly placed into the socket. If it is defective
Replace flex cable.Flex cost is around $10.

post a comment for further assistance.

TOUCH SCREEN NOT WORKING

DO NOT OPERATE AS TOUCH PANTLLA
Touchscreen computers and handheld devices are the newest wave of technological gadgets as of 2010. While these devices function impressively, they can malfunction just like any other technical device. Troubleshooting the touchscreen is simple and often will correct any issues.

Identify how the screen is behaving. A touchscreen will malfunction in one of two areas--sensitivity or position. If you touch the screen and the cursor is not centered on your finger, this is a position error and requires recalibration of the screen. If you touch the screen and it does not register your touch without pressing hard, this is a sensitivity error. If you touch the screen and nothing happens, this can be a sensitivity error or a malfunctioning screen. Calibrate the screen. For all main errors, calibrating the screen will correct the issue. Every device has a different method of calibration but can usually be found under a "Tools" or "Diagnostics" menu option. Reload the device. For handheld devices, remove the battery and let the device rest for no less than five minutes. For computer or computer system devices, power down the device, disconnect the touchscreen device from the computer and remove any power cords to it. Allow the device to rest for five minutes. Reattach the device or reinstall the battery and power up the device. If issues persist, reload the software for the device. For handheld devices, do a full wipe of the device and return it to factory specifications. For add-on devices to a computer or computer system, uninstall the device and reinstall the drivers. If reloading, registering or calibrating the device does not work, consult the manufacturer for possible warranty replacement options.

Touch problem

Hello,

Nokia designed the N97 with a touch-screen calibration program to remedy problems with the touch screen. Opening the touch-screen calibration program requires you to use the touch screen, which can prove difficult. You're forced to judge where to tap the screen because the screen isn't recording the precise location of your taps. To find the touch-screen calibration program, open the main menu, select "Settings" and then "Touch Input." The program provides on-screen instructions to help you finish calibrating the screen.

Touch sensor not working

If your touch screen is not working, theres just 2 major causes of such, either a hardware cause which might be either the phone falling on a hard object or in water which could damage the sensor board and either the screen is malfunctioning and needs to be calibrated.
If you can access the menu of the phone, i will advice you calibrate the screen first before you send it to a repair shop. There is no updates to download for such problem as updating the firmware of the phone would do nothing but change the settings of the phone.
To calibrate the screen, you will have to go to the phones menu, go to settings, then you select the calibrate screen, it will show you some stars to touch and once you touch them properly, then your screen will be able to work effectively.
But if you cannot access the menu because of the touch, then i will advice you send it off for repairs, and what to repair on the phone is the sensor board.

Hope this helps you.

Touch screen is not working, how do i go to menu, shortcut key to menu.

Hello,

There are no shortcut keys to the menu option except you stored them yourself. But since you o not have any shortcut key to the menu, it simply means you just have to fix the phone.

There are two major reasons that could be causing the touch screen not to be responding. The first is if the phone fell and the sensor board got bad, and the best solution is to replace the sensor board. To replace the sensor board is quite sensitive so i will strongly advice you seek advice from a specialist that can assist you with that. But if you intend to fix it DIY way, then you can ask and i will direct you through the steps.

On the other, it might be the screen is weak and needs calibration. To calibrate the screen depends on the type of phone it is. I will advice you go through the user manual for the steps to calibrate the screen of your phone. If you cannot get any response from the screen, i will advice you replace the sensor board. Because calibration requires you to touch the screen and since it is not responding to touch, it will be pointless trying to calibrate.

Thank you for using fixya.

My touch screen quit working

Hello,

If the touch screen of your phone keeps working, then it means the sensor board of the phone is bad and need to be replaced, if you can access the menu of the phone, then you need to calibrate the screen first.

To calibrate the screen, you need to go to the menu, then you select settings, then you select calibrate screen then you follow the rest of the instruction from there on.

If calibrating the screen does not help you, then it means you have to fix the sensor board of the phone, if your information from the keypad reaches the screen, then it means you simply need to replace the touch sensor board of the phone.

Hope this helped.
Take care and good luck

I can still make calls but the touch is not working

First you need to calibrate your screen by going to the menu, select the settings, then you select calibrate screen then you follow the rest of the instructions from there. If that does not work, then you know the problem is from the sensor board of the screen. Once the sensor board is fixed, the phone will be in good condition once again.
Hope this information helped you!

The calibration on my samsung impression was way off so i used the unlck code *2767*3855# the phone shut down and restarted and at the calibration screen tapped the center of cross many many times cross...

OK..your touch screen was jammed or not working and you did reset via code *2767*3855# then the phone restarted with the calibration cross....you tapped the cross but nothing is happening.......what to do? first shutdown the phone remove the battery for 30 sec also remove the simcard put the battery again start the phone when the calibration screen pops up tap on the cross here you must feel the tapping is working by feeling a light vibration of the phone.....then tap on the lower bar of the screen which has color (light gray) different than the calibration screen the cross will move to another corner......repeat this for all four corners then you should see and OK on the bar to save and exit to the normal screen........done

I cant acess my setting to calibrate my phone. When i touch the menu button it acts like Im touching the center of the screen. When I try to dial the number using the touch screen it doesnt dial the number...

Ok there might be a battery issue. Or there might need to be a touch calibration reset. To do that go to your settings and select touch calibration and do it again.

ALSO IF YOUR PHONE IS STILL IN WARRENTY AKA WITHIN 1 YEAR OF PURCHASE THEN CALL 1800 801 1101. THEY WILL HELP YOU. YOU WILL NEED YOUR IMEI NUMBER OFF THE BACK OF THE PHONE. IF NOT CALL THE INSURANCE HOTLINE WHICH IS ON THE AT&T WEBSITE.
