Question about Kenmore 3.8 cu. ft. HE3 Front Load Washer
I've tried all of the suggestions regarding the F02 code. The filter had minimal crud, the impellers are intact. Ran the machine.F02 code. Da*n!
I ran the diagnostics and the pump sounded as if it was running. So this time I removed the pump for a better inspection. Impellers were fine but did not seem to rotate freely. Is this normal or is there a problem with the pump motor? By the way, graet site. Very helpful.
The fault code F02 has about three suggested solutions with the last one being to change the pump. The diagnostic tree is slightly flawed. Before anyone changes the pump there is one more very common problem. The pressure sensor which tells the drain pump when to stop running and the water valves when to shut off has a manifold located on the lowest point in the back of the drum housing (back has to be removed to access). The manifold plugs up with undisolved detergent and lint and prevents the pressure sensor from receiving the proper signal. The pump will continue to run until it times out (at 15 minutes) and results in an F02 code.

How much is a new pump? If it is the pump, would it show an error during diagnostics?

I have found the problem with the pump ,only took replacing the motor twice to figure this one out ....the eletrical part of the motor is a sealed unit with the field coils on the out side of the sealed motor the bushing/seal on the front of the motor wear out and lets the motor fill with water.after removing motor if you tap the back of the hosing you can watch the water come out.........i,m working on motor number 4 .........they last about a year and a half.......GOOD LUCK GETTING SEARS TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM by the time they do somthing for you the cloths that you were washing are out of style BOB 269-217-1150

You have one of the most common problems with the HE3.
To correct the problem I usually clean out the pump filter and run through a rinse cycle with no soap or cloths in the machine. This will allow the suds to flush out of the washer. Suds can cause the washer to think it has water in it when it is actually all gone. If you clean the filter, rinse the suds out and still get the f-2 Check the drain for possible obstructions. If the drain is clear and you have tried all the other possibles then you will need a new pump. I have them if you need them just give me a call and I can get you shipped to your door. Good luck to you and I hope this helped. Thanks Mike (865)945-3808

he F02 message is a long drain error and it may mean the pump is clogged or bad. You don't provide a lot of detail about if the water is draining out or not but the first thing to check for this error is the drain pump.
The image below shows how to access the pump and remove the filter. This may be your only problem. With the access panel removed you can also make sure the pump is running. Remember to unplug the washer before removing the access panel.
Check the pump for the F02 and make sure you're using HE detergent and there's not excessive suds.
