The BEST way is to backup your Win7 Drivers NOW... there are a number of FREE programs that will do just that.

I KNOW you want to 'step back' to XP, but you may find many DRIVERS are NOT available for XP and many newer programs WILL NOT WORK with anything below Win7.

AFTER you save *everything* important to you, FORMAT your hard drive 100% and install XP from there!

In the future, IF you wanted to go back to Win7 YOU will have all of the drivers required on a flash drive or CD!

when you boot from xp installation cd it should start but if as you say nothing is happening there may be a problem with the cd or the drive. If you're sure it works properly you can always install your existing hard drive (the one with win 7) in another computer and format it then replace it and try again. When you format it you will wipe everything and it will be blank.

I solved same problem.
Just format the system tools partition 100MB/350MB and then go for clean installation (format of disk 0 and install) 99.99% you problem will clear.

I suggest you first check that DVStorm will work with Windows 7 if not then is there an upgrade you can purchase.
Next check your computer hardware.
You can run a Windows 7 upgrade advisor tocheck if your computer is suitable for Windows 7.

you will not be able to do that because if you format c: drive you will loose Win 7, you can though, partition the c: drive and then add winxp to the new drive which should be d: drive now by booting from xp disk and choosing to install on d: drive only

You can create a Dual Boot in ur machine....
C: XP
D: or E: or F: as Win7

You need to re-format your disk, back up all critical data in your disk....
once done...boot with XP disk in CD drive....
after format, create multiple partitions....C: , D: , E: etc as per your preference
install XP in C:
once done...start PC and let the machine boot from C: XP...once you get Desktop in XP
install Win7 in D: or E: as prefered....once done..
in the startup screen you will get these 2 options
1 load earlier version of Windows
2 Windows 7
to make Win7 as default, right click on My computer (Win7), Properties / Advancd System Settings / Advanced Tab / Startup and Recovery / Under System Startup - Chose the Default OS by the down arrow and the time to it must be displayed in the startup to chose the OS....by this method you can chose Win7 or Xp to load...make your choice as prefered...

Put XP disk in CD-ROM and reboot the computer.

Click yes to install XP. It will tell you there is a system already installed on C drive. You select to install XP on C drive. It will ask if you want to format C drive, you select full format.

XP will then install

I think you need to do a format of your HD before setup.
Installation on top of another XP is always troublesome.
Obvioulsy you need to be aware you will lose all files !

you might try formating the hard drive first then installing xp. or you could fix it to where it boots directly from the cd

Boot to the XP CD and format the hard drive. You will loose all info that has not been backed up on the drive.After the format, it will continue to loan windows XP. Make sure you have the product code before doing this.
