GE Dss25KSRCSS Appliance started making a "whining" noise -- appears to be coming from freezer section. The noise ocillates in pitch, high to low like a wave when the freezer unit is running.

Sounds like your evaporator fan motor bearings are telling you it is time to replace the fan motor.

GE Profile bottom freezer refrigerator model PDS22SFSDRSS makes a high pitched continuous whine (like blowing on a bottle) that changes in pitch. evaporator fan or VFD? temperature control OK

I don't know - I would describe the noise as being like the wind blowing across a chimney. I have never owned a fridge that didn't make such a noise as it grew older - while it was on a cooling cycle and afterwards it sounds like water trickling. It doesn't seem to affect the performance though and I manage to ignore it.

Hss25gfpdww The unit makes a horriable high pitch whining noise a

I am not posotive, but it sounds like you may have a piece of debris stuck in the fan underneath. You can check if you pull it out from the wall, make sure you unplug it as to not have the fan come on while you are toying. But thats what it sounds like. If that is not it, I am sure you could locate the noise with it pulled out from the wall, and go from there, Possibly your compressor, but sounds like the fan the way you're explaining it. Good luck
