try walmart / bestbuy / jandr.com or even duane reade for universal the codes for sanyo is in the booklet that come with the remote...look at the type 3 to 6 (depend on how many items you want to control w/ remote) tv/dvd/vcr/cable box etc

the thing which you have seen is resistance not the capacitor.
whenever that goes hot or arcing it is due to heavy short ckt in tv.
as you are not much aware of tv technology please caall skilled person to do it for you.
please now do not start again unless it is repaired. otherwise it may be problematic.

if TV have black screen,increase screen control to see vert amp IC is defective if you see one horizontal line in picture tube screen,and if screen is white with lots of line acrose ,you can find open resister,on picture tube board,or in main board near HV transformer.
It seems like this problem would have to be with the picture tube itself, although I have never run into this symptom in over 30 years of servicing TV's. If the CRT is still in warranty I would get it checked out. Otherwise it probably not be worth repairing. If you end up replacing the set, check out the Toshiba 24" model. I have had good luck with that model in the past.
