If you have no leaks then the valve that discharges from the compressor cylinder(s) is hanging open. It should shut on the back stroke then open when the compressor completes a compression stroke. They are usuall spring loaded, somtimes not. If the compressior has something that looks like a cylinder head the valvle should be located under it.

Put new switch on compressor and now wont shut off.

the regulator is failing to do its job. make sure you have it set properly. if you did, you will likely need a new one. also remember to drain the compressor every month to prevent rust from moisture build up in the tank. good luck.

Compressor runs but wont build pressure

You are probably leaking past worn rings and/or through dirty or broken reed valves. You don't mention a make or manufacturer. Contact them for repair parts.

Compressor not building pressure and continues to run

Unplug it and listen for air leak. What pressure does the manual tell you it should run to? The safety release could be bleeding air, listen for that, with it off. Make sure it is designed for more than 60 PSI by manufacture.

Wont build air pressure

Your problem falls into one of two categories the first is the tank is leaking the second is the compressor is leaking. Try this run the compressor for a minute or two and turn it off if to hear a hiss the tapers off slowly your tank is leaking some were check the drain on the bottom of the tank, the pressure relief valve on the top or side of the tank and all other connections between the compressor and tank.

In the event there is no hiss this means the problem is the compressor you may have a bad reed valve or a bad check valve depending on the type of compressor.

hope this helps

Husky comp on 1st start builds up 75 lbs and wont restart

Check the reset button on the motor to see if it tripped. The motor may be overheating. Some motors have an internal breaker and they have to cool off before they restart. Also check the pressure switch. Move the switch back and forth ( on and off ) and listen for a click. If it doesn't click with low to no air pressure then the switch is bad.
