Convergence bowed at top and bottom

Model: P46925
Chassis: CTC-195M4

The convergence are bowed in on both the bottom and top of screen. The convergence menu is not available on the menu screen. I have replaced ICU-19500, ICU-19501, R19001 and CR800. This model does not have an STK on the convergence board.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Projection sets have two very common problems.

The first common problem is convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

Help with RCA projection TV P46812BL (chasis ptk195AA)

You have probably blown one of the convergence ICs. Effectively the easiest thing to do is replacing the whole convergence board, so that no soldering is involved.

Here you can buy a replacement convergence board, just select your model.

Let me know if you need further help.

The pic is off there is bowing at the top and

Picture becoming distorted at the top/bottom of the screen is due to the convergence circuit going bad, and is a common issue with big screen projection TVs.

The convergence circuits will need to be repaired, which will generally require some soldering and ordering new parts for ~$75. If you want to get a TV technician to repair it then you will probably be looking in the region of about $300 for a repair.

Here is a link to repair guide for a Mitsubishi TV. Obviously a different model, but the convergence circuits are generally the same for most makes/models - this will give you an idea of the work involved to fix it: http://www.techlore.com/article/22530/DIY-Repair-Replacing-Convergence-IC-s-on-a-Mitsubshi-TV-Set/

Red curves on bottom and top of picture

You have a convergence problem. Here are some of the most common symptoms.

Screen looks 3D
One or more colors can't be adjusted when when using the convergence menu.
Screen is bowed in but stationary.

Solution:
You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kit for your exact model. The kit inlcludes a photo instruction guide, original Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, etc. Everything you need to fix it yourself. Its an easy fix.

RCA model P61950

fl231 is the convergence fuse, and is soldered to the board in proximity of the convergence ICS, on RCA rear projection TVs.

If
fl231 has blown, TV usually does not turn on at al, if you get bowed picture, that means that the convergence ICs must be replaced.

The fuse is on the same board where you find convergence ICs, if the fuse had blown, or the pico fuses at the base of the STK convergence ics had blown, the STKs must be replaced.
There is need of purchasing the service manual to do the job.

The repair shuld be done by a technician.

This is the convergence IC, model may vary:

SPEED BUMP OR BOWING

Your convergence chips and convergence resistors are going bad. When they fail the screen colors will look distorted/3d looking. Another symptom is one or more colors can't be converged using the convergence menu. You can purchase the parts over the internet. Just make sure you get Sanyo brand convergence chips and the correct flame proof resistors. You can also check the site www.TvRepairKits.com for a kits.  Just make sure you replace both of the convergence chips and all of the convergence resistors.

Picture bows on top and bottom of picture......

Your problem is the convergence IC'S. They have STK ###-### the # are numbers. You can get parts at http://partstore.com. If your not a tech and an experimenter or a handi person Pease be aware of the hi voltage inside these sets. Also be aware your going to need to unsolder and resolder the ICs in and from the printed circuit board. Good Luck
