Most probably the audio/sound devices drivers are not properly installed or check your CMOS Bios to see the on board devices Audio devices is "ENABLED"!!

Check your "Devices Manager" to confirm whether your Audio devices for the motherboard is properly or correctly installed. Ensured that your speaker is properly plug into the correct output port.

If you do need the Audio drivers for your ECS motherboard, you can download the from the ECS Site.

Hope it helps.

No sound from the pc or the PCI sound card

Let's try the obvious - then move on to a more in-depth fix for this.
Assuming you're running Windows ..
Lower right corner of the screen (in the task bar) is a speaker icon. If there's a red circle lined through, it means the audio is muted or turned off. Simply click on the icon, and the pop-up will show the same circle. Click on that, and it ought to work. Again, this is the obvious, and most common I've found to occur.

New board will not install com ports 1 & 2 and lpt1 printer port & floppy dr A

what you should have done was uninstalled the old motherboard drivers first as these drivers will be running the board although incorrectly, if you still have the installation disc run it as if to install, but it should show up with the option to uninstall the drivers.

Sound problem

Click on Start>run, then type 'dxdiag' windows can then run a diagnostic test on your graphics and sound drivers. You may only have to uninstall sound drivers and then re-install original sound driver from motherboard installation cd or from the motherboard manufacturer web site.
