May I ask what it is not doing?<br /> Most common failures in DELL are shorted transistors, cold solder joints, bad caps.<br /> <span style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Arial','sans-serif'">Replacement board:</span><br /> <span style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Arial','sans-serif'; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt"><a rel='nofollow' href="http://www.lcdrepair.us">http://www.lcdrepair.us</a></span><br /><span style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Arial','sans-serif'; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt"> <span style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Arial','sans-serif'"><a rel='nofollow' href="http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums">http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums</a></span><br /> <span style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Arial','sans-serif'"><a rel='nofollow' href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague</a></span><br /> <span style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Arial','sans-serif'">Capacitors kit: <a rel='nofollow' href="http://lcdalternatives.auctivacommerce.com/Viewsonic-C196320.aspx"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>http://lcdalternatives.auctivacommerce.com/</a><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>he can make you a set of caps for you.</span><br /> </span> <br />

Monitor model 1702FP wont start. lights keep cycling

Hello,

The flashing power and signal lights are caused by 4 bad capacitors on the main driver board. Here is a link to information showing where they are and how to replace them.

I cannot hear any sound from my Dell monitor 1702FP. Are there speakers installed within the monitor?. VGA cable is connected. When I use a spare monitor using the VGA cable the sound is loud and clear. ...

The Dell 1702FP doesn't have speakers. The specs of the Dell 1702FP are available here: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/monitors/1702fp/en/specs.htm . (BTW neither does the Dell 1704FPT.) However, some Dell monitors can have a sound bar (speaker set-up) mounted on the monitor.

VGA cables don't carry sound. Check if a second cable (an audio patch cable is connected to the computer and the second monitor). (There are some cables that actually bundle the 3.5 mm patch cable with the video cable for convenience. (I've seen a number of DVI cables with that bundle option.) The plugs will separate into separate units at each end.

Other monitors do have speakers built in - look for a 3.5 mm audio input jack with the rest of the input connections on your monitor. There are some monitors that accept an HDMI input with a 3.5 mm audio out jack; these monitors don't have speakers and thus are enabling a daisy chain to connect the speakers to the monitor. So you do need to be careful and look for the audio in label.

You can attach a set of speakers to your computer using the audio out (look for a lime green 3.5 mm jack on the back of a desktop). For laptops or to use the front audio ports, look for a headphone jack.

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with more information about your monitor and computer for additional assistance.

Dell 1702FP gets off automatically or lose power by itself!

i think the power cord to your monitor is not fixed tightly. check the connections. or else the power On / Off button could have got damaged. replace it with the new one. if still the problem exists, servicing of the monitor will be the solution to it.
please rate my solution.
have a nice day.

Dell 1702FP 17" shows nothing after Radeon HD 2600 put in.

Is the card plugged into the (PCI/AGP) slot correctly? Did you disable the onboard video in the bios? Also be sure to check in windows device manager and check for the graphics card to appear there.

Dell 1702FP 'tearing' after warmup

It might be a failing electrlytic or a heat-related issue with a transistor in the power supply, or it may be a problem in the video board. Sounds like will need good old-fashioned component-level troubleshooting.
