I have a call center with nortel 3905 ACD phones and Plantronics CS 50 and CS 55 wireless headsets w/ no handset lifters. The problem is some of the headsets notify the user with an notification of a caller and some cannot hear if a call is coming in thru the headset. They appear to be configured the same way, what I am missing?

SOURCE: Plantronics cs50 head set with lifter has STATIC

Try a system reset:
1.  Lift the headset off of the charging cradle, but make sure the headset is turned off.  It will be off if the green light on the front of the base is not lit.  If it's not, push the call answer button once to turn it off.
2.  Push the call answer button and the mute button at the same time and hold them down.  The mute button is the black little wheel at the top of the headset.  Use the tip of your finger to push it straight down and hold it while holding the call answer button.  A green light on the headset will flash for 2 series of flashes.  Wait until the end of the second series then let go of both buttons.
3.  Put the headset back on the charging cradle and wait 30 seconds.  Lift it back up and try to use it.  If this doesn't work, repeat one more time and then disconnect the power from the base and plug it back in.

SOURCE: outside caller hears themselves in an echo

Echo is usually caused by the transmit (speak) level on the unit being set too high.

1. First, try lowering the volume of the telephone. If you still hear an echo, adjust the volume of the headset itself.

2. The master transmit controls of the headset are the ABCD switch settings on the bottom of the base. A is the lowest and D is the highest setting.

3. You can fine tune this setting with the plus (+) and minus (-) buttons on the back of the charging base.

4. If this doesn't fix the echo, try moving the configuration dial on the left side of the charging base. The recommended setting for most phones is 1.

SOURCE: plantronics cs55 problem

Turn on the wireless headset as soon as the HL10 lifter picks up the headset. Remember to press the call answer switch. A steady green light should come on the base and the wireless headset should have a small green blinking light on, on its side.

* Make sure your hand receiver is off the hook when using the headset. Also check that you hear a dial tone on the handset/hand receiver before turning on the headset.

If the Plantronics CS55 wireless headset shows that it is on, you have to make sure of the following things.

a. the green LED on the base turns on when you turn the call switch on from the headset.
b. the small green LED on the side of the headset is blinking.
c. the telephone headset is lifted from the cradle.
d. if the headset is not charging and the Amber light on the base does not blink when you place wireless headset on it; trying placing the headset more firmly.
e. If the headset is not charging and the Amber light on the base does not blink even after placing the wireless headset firmly on the charging cradle, you may need to change the battery.

Alternately you can try resetting the Plantronics CS55 wireless headset.

Reset Plantronics CS50, CS60 or CS55 Wireless Headset

If you have problems with the sound or connection of your Plantronics CS50, CS60 or CS55 wireless phone headset, you may want to try to hard reset it using the following steps:

Note: Ensure the IntelliStand switch (on the right side of the charging base) is in the - position and NOT the = position.

1. Press both the call control button and the listening volume/mute button for 5 seconds. When the indicator light blinks release both buttons.

2. Press the call control button again. The talk indicator light will again blink to indicate the headset is back to normal.

3. Disconnect the AC charger from the AC charging jack for 5 seconds.

4. Reconnect the AC charger.

Now give the Plantronics headset a try.

Hi, one of our Call Center workers cannot hear the ringing phone when she has the headset onWhat's your problem?

The ring from the telephone is picked up by the internal microphone on the HL10 Handset Lifter, typically for most phones, the lifter sits directly over the speaker grill on the telephone where the sound comes out. For telephones that curve out on the left side and don't have a straight edge, there is an accessory called a "Ring Detector" which is used. Here's a link:

HL10 Nortel Adapter Kit - 46780-01

If the internal mic on the lifter has gone out, you can plug the ring detector into the handset lifter and just stick the ring detector over the speaker grill to pick up the ring. Plugging this into the lifter will bypass the internal mic, this accessory would have come with your HL10 lifter. You can also check the ring volume on the telephone, and you can also try adjusting the ring tone on the phone (sometimes it will pick up one ring tone better than another). Here is a link below if you need to order a new ring detector:

HL-10 LIFTER DOSEN'T STAY UP AND SLIDES DOWN FREQUENTLY.

The internal gears on the Plantronics HL10 may be worn. You can take the handset receiver off hook and try manually raising up the lifter as far as it will go and then slowly pushing it back down into place, sometimes this will help to get it back working properly. If that doesn't work, you may need to replace the HL10 lifter. Below is a link where you can purchase a new lifter.

Any tips on the hand set setting for the phone. Everytime I do it, it lasts about a week and then is so loose the arm won't pick up the handset.

It sounds like your HL10 handset lifter is giving you problems. This link has a nice set-up video to help you.

Here's a couple of other reminders: Pay close attention to placement of lifter under the handset for proper fit and also how the tape sticks to the phone. Make sure the cord is plugged completely into the base of the wireless headset (needs a good contact). For height adjustment, medium and high work best (the low setting is pretty useless).

I have a CS70 NC./ no lifter. What is the set up procedure to use my headset without lifting my phone handset. With the base plugged into the headset port of the phone.

If the Plantronics CS70N wireless headset is plugged into the headset jack on your phone, you will need to push the headset button on the phone and then the call/control button on the wireless headset.

I cannot here the phone ringing from my CS55 headset or another call coming in.

You will need the Plantronics HL10 handset lifter in order to have the CS55 ring, indicating an incoming call. The HL10 also allows you to answer remotely on most phones and hang-up remotely.

Is it compatible with an IPCC nortel network phone?

I am personally using a Plantronics CS60 wireless headset with a Meridian Nortel M2006 Phone and it works just fine.

Here is how you can setup the Plantronics CS60 wireless headset.

NOTE: Before setting up the system make sure the IntelliStand switch (on the right side of the charging base) is in the "_" position and NOT the "=" position.

The headset and the base unit are supplied subscribed to each other. However, if you wish to use a replacement headset with the base unit (or if you lose your connection to the base unit), then you must re-subscribe as follows:

1. Return the headset to the charging base.

2. Press and hold both the + and - buttons on the back of the charging base until the red light on the front of the base starts to flash.

3. Let go of both buttons. The red light should continue to flash.

4. Press the mute switch (black wheel on the top of the headset) straight down until a green light appears on the headset, then let go of the wheel, and the light should remain on the headset.

5. Resubscription is finished when the red light on the base is fully illuminated and the green light on the headset disappears.

6. Remove the headset from the charging base lift telephone handset/press headset button if not using a handset lifter. The headset and base should now be connected.

You can use an handset lifter accessory, such as the HL1 or HL10 to pick up the handset every time you need to use the headset.
