Dish ViP622 keeps crashing - on 6th unit from Dish network

Our Dish ViP622 unit keeps crashing and we have to replace every other month. We have tried pluggin into power strip, wall, different plugs, etc. Seems to work fine for a month or so, then starts this reboot mode. We have had to replace approx 6 units in the last 7 months of service. Any ideas?

Yeah I'm having the same exact problem, awaiting my 3rd one is to come in, this is so awful to deal with. I have managed to not get charged for the unit or shipping yet, but this is terrible to keep having to deal with the same problem.

we are on our 3rd unit, since the replacements are all remanufactured they are 3 pieces of junk! the last replacement just runs the fan constantly and the light keeps turning on and off it doesnt stay on long enough to even aquire a signal. pretty funny dish doesnt recognize a problem with this, they say it cant be 3 units with the same problem! thet wont send me another one, now i have to wait a week for the tech to come out. what a pain in the ****!

My receiver reboots itself every time I turn the TV off or disconnect it from DVR. It works perfect wile I am watching TV, but the minute I turn it off DVR reboots itself every 30 min or so. This is my second one. Tried different wires, different outlets, called the service, but nothing changes.
Any help would be highly appreciated

The 622 receivers are very sensitive to static electricity build up, if you have been through more than two receivers i would demand having a technician come to your home to check grounding of your dish system, while he is there he will also check the grounding where you plug the receivers in, i suggest not using any surge protectors/power strips and, as debmaldo did, try different outlets, if you have a very high end surge protector, it should be okay but for troubleshooting purposes try a different wall receptacle

If this is happening most likely you have a a power issue on your outlet and unfortunately power strips or surge protectors do no good in this situation. You can get a battery back up from electronics store to plug into this keeps a constant steady stream of power to device. If you can, i recommend getting your outlet check by electrician you might have a "dirty power" issue. Also these receivers tend to get vary warm quick so if you have device in a cabinet that has no ventilation i recommend giving it some more air flow it works for a while but then dust starts to accumulate in device which makes it harder to cool down.

Light in the set box is not changing red light is flickering. Green light is not coming inspite of changing the batteries in the remote control. I am having Dish TV in my house.

Hi, this is Mary with Dish Network Customer Service. It sounds like you are experiencing a power issue with your Dish network VIP622 DVR. You can try resetting the Receiver box by unplugging it for 10 seconds (if it is plugged into a surge protector, for the purpose of troubleshooting, plug directly into a wall outlet). Wait for receiver to reacquire satellite signal. If you are still having an issue, you will need to contact Dish Network because the receiver box will probably need to be replaced. I hope this information helps you.

Dish network vip622 receiver won't turn on. Periodically blinking green light.

Hey there! Becki Barned with Dish Network customer service here! The problem that you are having is, of course, a power issue. To help this out, try plugging the receiver straight into an outlet on the wall if not there already, or tryo tunplug the receiver from the power source for 10 seconds. If that doesn't work, the receiver may need to be replaced. Blog if any other troubles!!!

Unit keeps trying to power up but does not. I need to get my recording from this receiver. Is there anyway to do this?

genman629,

You can connect an external hard drive to the receiver using the USB port. You need to activate the USB port by calling DISH Network at 1-800-333-3474. There is a one time charge of $40 to activate this feature. Since the receiver is not powering on, this option would not work unless the receiver does stay on. The only other option would be to replace the receiver which means the recordings would be lost. I hope this helps.

Connect a Dish VIP622 to a DVD/VCR

Hi piautewith the VIP622 receiver connecting to your DVD/VCR player you will need theinput/output jacks. To setup recordings to your VCR/DVD player, you will want torun from receiver output to VCR/DVD input and from VCR/DVD output to TV input. Thefan on the VIP622 receiver is just like the fan in a computer tower. Even ifthe receiver is off the fan will still run to keep unit the right temperature foryour DVR receiver.
