Smoking DVD player

Sounds like it is time for a new unit. your problem is not worth fixing as it is either a failing laser pickup due to age, or the laser beam is caked with tar from smoking.

New blurays are quite inexpensive.
Please dispose of the unit responsibly.

if you got the receipt then ask them for a change through http://www.walmart.com/electronics

if its out of warranty try and take it to a local repairer if he cant help you then you need to throw it in the bin and buy a new one.

If it smoking,get rid of it immediately!,its dangerous,and not worth the risk of a fire

Call Todd @ 1-612-344-4730 and ask for a car adapter for that model. He will have you go to UPS web site and make out a shipping label fax to him he will ship you one. I did it yesterday and its on its way to me I know because I tracked it. Be nice to him and he will do it asap. I will have it by next tuesday UPS says.

well i think you got scammed,but since it was inexpensive,cut your losses and buy a new one.remember there must be a reason they no longer carry it.

On my DVD-LV50, I was able to re-initialize and fix a different error (error code H05). It might work for you, too.

With no disk in the player, press and hold these buttons for 4 seconds:

1. Back skip -- [ |<< ]
2. Pause -- [ || ]
3. Play -- [ > ]

The screen will go blank, then say "Initialized."

After that, it worked like new.

You should just return it to the store and ask for a new one.  If they won't bring it back you could always bring it to sears and say it was a gift and you would just like to exchange it for another one.  I know that sears has a satisfaction guarantee so they should let you bring it back with no problem, even without a receipt.  

The power supply is probably what blew. There is nothing you can do yourself other than sending it for repair.

Considering that this is a low end player, It may not be worth to pay the cost of servicing it.
