Set up of a Microsoft wireless keyboard & mouse

I purchased a Microsoft Wireless Laser Keyboard 6000 v2.0 model 1074 & Microsoft wireless mouse model 1058 on ebay. Instructions on how to set it up didn't come with the keyboard so I am wondering what is it that I need to do?

The devices probably came with a USB cable and a receiver, or just a USB equiped receiver, that you need to plug into your computer. Go ahead and plug the cable and receiver into the computer so that your wireless mouse and keyboard has a means to communicate with the computer. Next, Here is a website address where you can download drivers for your mouse and keyboard. You must first choose either mouse or keyboard, then the exact product and model, then the operating system, and finally the language. repeat the process for the other device (mouse or keyboard, whichever you did not choose first). Good Luck! And let me know if there are any further problems.

To make them both work together you need IntelliPoint for the mouse and IntelliType for the keyboard and system no newer than Windows 7. For explaining incompatibility issues see:

How do I increase the range on my wireless microsoft 6000 keyboard and microsoft wireless laser mouse 6000 v2.0.

I have a Microsoft Wireless Notebook Laser Mouse 6000 that also has a very short range. The only solution I've found so far is to plug the receiver into a USB extention cord and run the cord toward the mouse.

Microsoft wireless laser keyboard 6000 v2.0 keyboard not working

You have to press the button on the receiver that is directly connected to the computer. While doing this, press the connect button both the mouse and the keyboard. I did this and now my keyboard is working, despite the battery indicator turning itself off a few seconds after I install it.

Hope this solves your problem.

Try going to Control Panel, then click on keyboard and Keyboard Properties will come up. Then click on Key Settings and then click on Restore Defaults. Hopefully that will do it. Had a similar problem with an MS 4000 KB.
