Convergence out power supply faulty for 46gw945 picture is distorted

you have a convergence problem and nedd to replace the convergence ic's i think the part # for the generic replacement is stk392-110-there are 2 of them. you also need to replace( check 1st with an ohmeter) the 4 fuses associated with the power supply going to the convergence ic's-they are solder in fuses and you have to know the value to put in the correct ones. unless you are a technician, i would suggest call for service ont this, but feel free to give the tech this info.

The problem you are refering to is more than likely a convergence problem. The convergence circuit in your tv is controlled by an IC (integrated circuit) stk392-110 and it makes the 3 colors (red, blue, green) line up/converge together to create a clear picture. You'll know when this part needs to be replaced because the picture you see is 3d looking and possibly bowed on the top or bottom or on the sides in any or all 3 colors.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. it can be replaced with a t0220 stile case dioded 220k ohm go to nte look up and do a search on the rca part # 259638 search the web for the part.

sounds like the convergence ICs have failed. Will the red and blue move in all 4 directions when you try to adjust the convergence? If not the convergence ICs are bad replace both of them also check the resistors that power the ICs as they may be open as well.

This set has a problem in the convergence power supply. The memory in the set thinks it is a direct view television since it cannot read the convergence memory. The convergnce power supply will have to be repaired to component level since the board is nla.

Your problem is a bad main filter, a regulator IC ,and or a combination of a convergence problem along with a vertical IC going bad. This set is not something you should mess with unless your a trained tech. Please seek a pro to assist you with this repair. good Luck
