From the symptoms you describe, it seems the high voltage flyback autotransformer has failed along with the horizontal amplifier (they are slaved to each other). The sound comes from the flyback unit.

Well, the only way to solve this is to get a technician take a look at the set, I'm afraid. Repairs could cost upto $100 or more, depending upon the number of components that need to be replaced,

Hope that helps!

Humax FVP -4000T box worked fine at first. Now picture fragments, freezes sound continues. TV works fine not connected to box. Only 6 weeks old.

As it is so new, your best option is a replacement from Humax. This is assuming that you are sure that the signal to the unit is OK.

Can't get signal

More then likely a broken tuner within the humax box, return it to the store for repairs as no " quick " solution is known since it is a hardware problem.

Why is my Humax 4000 very slow, freezing and scrambled saying bad signal.

Check the signal level and quality. Reseat all aerial connections.

My picture keeps jumping when viewing anything on my humax

What about the strength of the signal? If it is very weak, this could happen. Check the signal strength first. Contact any service technician; who have instrument to measure the signal strength.

I ws using my humax to watch a programme, when the picture froze.

It can sometimes happen if the signal level drops & the TV digital decoder cannot pick up the strength of the signal when the transmission is back to normal. Switching on & off again resets the processing again. This is a similar effect that can happen with cable or sky transmissions also, it acts the smae way as sometimes having to re-boot your PC if that should crash. It is not necessarily a fault with the TV.

Humax 8000T not used for a while, now says ''no or bad signal'' and says no channels available when it searches.I tried resetting to default settings but still no joy. When I checked signal status it says...

sig strength 29 is too low to lock onto. Humax needs 50+ to lock ideally 65+

is the aerial ok? try the set on someone elses aerial. If no joy then its possible the tuner is duff...but thats virtually unheard of.

Picture freeze lockup and no sound

It Was Solved by removeing the unit from its present site and retuned unit to winter hill in a good signal area, when unit was returned to original site it was retuned again. and operated ok. as to what was the course i have not a clue, can only think that due to thie site being a fringe signal area may be the transmitter was on reduced power or something?

Pay tv reception

Austar recently made changes that prevent the use of their smart cards in decoders other than Austar boxes.

Assuming you are using a legit Austar smart card, you will need to use it in the Austar decoder it was supplied with, for it to work now.
