Question about 2wire (1000-400108-001) Router

2 Answers

Have ATT Uverse & it always drops the internet connection. I reset the main 2wire box weekly. The little router by my desktop is the problem - I have to disconnect & reconnect several times per day - especially if I leave windows open but idle

Check with 2wire website for a newer firmware version. if you are able to update to a newer version and still have problems, then your router is on its way out.

Same problem here, they sent me a new modem and same day dropped out. It's U-verse, I wish I had NEVER changed from their DSL, you can't even buy third party modems with uversre it is att only eqp. I hate u-verse and am thinking of starting a class action, if they can't get their act together quit. Tired of talking to idiots in Inda also..

SOURCE: CAN A 2WIRE DSL ROUTER WORK WITH A CABLE INTERNET CONEECTION

The 2wire dsl modem/router cannot be use with a another cable modem , since this 2wire device is also a modem/router and its made for the DSL conenction that's why it wont work with Cox cable, the best thing that you can do is to ask Cox to give a wireless modem/router like this 2wire so you can still use the wireless connection of your computer..

Hope that helps..........

SOURCE: Can I use 2WIRE 2701HG-B router in COX internet connection

No. A router has 2 main interface types WAN (for the internet connection side, and LAN (for the home network side) the 'LAN' side often has up to 4 ports and wireless connectivity for the home network.

The most common routers available at electronics retail use a CAT-5 connection for the WAN ports and the LAN ports. Your DSL modem/router uses a phone line input for it's WAN port, which uses a signal type that is incompatible with the cable modem output.

If COX doesn't offer a router with the cable modem package, you can go and purchase and common brand of home networking router, and attach it to the output of the cable modem.

How to get my 2wire ip number

There is a problem: you are connected on LAN side of the modem, so your IP is privat and are not visible in the Internet. It?s like 192.168.x.x .On the WAN side you have another IP that's could be public: 5.35.85.x .To see the public IP use a specific web site like: http://pingme.info/

I have an AT&T Uverse provided 2Wire 3800HG-B gateway in the basement. My desktop PC is on the 2nd floor and connects to the internet at 11Mbps when the TV is not on. When we turn the HDTV on, we lose...

Turned on the TV, but not the Uverse box and still lost the internet. Determined that it was the Panasonic Home Theater wireless speakers which operate at 2.4 GHz causing the interference. Next step is contacting Panasonic to see if they have a solution for that issue.

I want to use 2 wire ATT UVerse -- BUT NOT WIRELESS

the 2wire att uverse router, does not broadcast wireless signal if there is no wireless computer connected to its network. regarding the unchecking of the ssid, it will only hide the network name of your router, but technically, if a computer will try to connect to your router, it will still "send" wireless signal to a computer within its range.

you do not have to worry about the wireless signal being sent, if nobody connects to the router via wireless cionnection.
