The meter will not indicate anything until you have the charger plugged in and will move to zero when fully charged Hopes this helps you

I'm sorry, I forgot to say that my chair was indeed plugged in.

  • Anonymous Aug 25, 2010

Well then probably the charger is not working. With a Pride Chair the on-board charger lite will only come on when the batteries are fully charged You have to bend down and look at the rear of the chair underneath to find the light on the charger. Now if you have a volt meter you can check the battery voltage through the joystick charger port. place the leads in the two outter plug holes and read the voltage. After a full charge the batteries should read 24-26 volts and if the charger is plugged in it can read up to 30 voltsif there is no change between charging and not charging then the charger is bad. You might also check that the wires going to the meter are not unplugged. Hope this can help

Pride jazzy 1113, controller light scroll back and forth, wont move, i bought one new battery, it has full charge other battery is a little over 10 volts. is there way to test charger with volt meter?

The voltmeter should read 29 volts when on. You should never replace one battery and leave an old battery in the chair. Replace them both at the same time.

If all lights are flashing excessive voltage has been applied to the controller system. 6 flashing lights on the 1133 indicates that the chair is being inhibited by the battery charger. Try unplugging the battery charger. Check you battery connections.

The batteries will not charge. The ammeter does not move, just stays at 0 all the time. I pulled the connectors off the ammeter and there is 24 volts going to the ammeter. Not sure if the meter is bad or the...

It is an AMP Meter (Amperes) and AMP's are relative to CURRENT, not Voltage. Voltage measurements are read by a VOLT Meter. W=Watts or work units. Like a 40 Watt Bulb. R=Resistance. If the Battery fails to charge, it is due to the cells degradation as they only last so long. From what you wrote, I assume you need to replace the Battery.

How do you charge the jazzy 1103? It is on 0 on the back. Plugged it in overnight with chair on. Went from 4 to 0. Help we don't want to be stranded.

The meter on the back is an amp meter and tells you how many amps are entering the batteries when charging. Many people get confused with this and think that the needle should rise as the batteries become more charged. This is in fact incorrect and the opposite should happen. So just to sumarise, when you plug the charger in when the batteries have been used, the needle should be above 0 (maybe, 3-5 depending on how discharged the batteries are) and as the batteries become charged, the needle should gradually drop down, and should be on 0 when they are fully charged. The batteries should not be taken off charge untill the needle is on 0. Hope that has helped.
