IE DATA 702 fdd

I have a YE Data YD-380B disk drive. I/O error is appeared when it try to read floppy. How can I solve this problem

Try looking on eBay and Amazon, you can usually find what you are looking for. You should be able to find something, if not Google it. Hope this helps.

Your TEAC FDD (floppy disk drive) is a Tri-mode device (720 KB, 1.2 MB, and 1.44MB)

The "235" part of the model number indicates the drive's form factor (size) is 3.5 inches.
The "HG" part of the model number indicates that the FDD is a Tri-mode device, with the 3 modes
given above.

The manufacturer notes that it has no jumpers, but every FDD I've ever seen has jumpers for
bus master/slave selection. Either master or slave will work.

Sad to say your model "Sharp pc ax40 Series laptop" does not support the "Boot from USB devices" options from the Bios.

It uses the "Floppy Drive 3.5" 1.44 MB floppy - External" ie portable FDD booting options.

Old PC and Laptop used to have software and device driver delivered on low capacity (usually 1.44MB 3.5 in) 'Floppy' disk diskette (FDD):

'A floppy disk is a data storage medium that is composed of a disk of thin, flexible ("floppy") magnetic storage medium sealed in a square or rectangular plastic carrier lined with fabric that removes dust particles'.

Newer machines usually will not come with FDD drive as we now use CD or DVD or even external USB stick/storage instead. If a FDD is required, you can get an external USB connected FDD as a standard FDD drive will require the support of a specific FDD adapter.

What floppy disk driver do you need? The driver is already in the WinXP system when you install the Windows itself.

If your system cannot see the floppy disk ie "A", most probably it is disabled in the "BIOS settings". Check your "Bios Settings" first to ensure the "FDD" feature is enabled. Check the cable & power cable connecting the FDD too.

If your PC still cannot detected the Floppy disk, most probably your FDD is faulty.

if it is really a case with external floppy drive...


check the FDD first .

a 3.5 in FDD has asmall **** to be turned up and down that makes a small rectangular hole Visible/Invisible- THis is the write protection for FDD.

similarly with a 5 in FDD which hardly may be the case,
a sticker has to be attached on small cut in any of the 4 rectangular edges you may find.


its nothing to do with the Floppy drive.
