Turn over the S11 base and insert the headset slot. This is at the top of the base. Remove the handset cord from your telephone base and plug into the handset jack (there will be a picture). Using the short cord that came with the S11, plug into the line jack on the back of your base and the other end into the slot on your telephone where you removed the handset cord. Plug the headset cord into the headset jack that is on your S11 base. Connect the the A/C power adapter to the S11 A/C jack and a wall outlet. Put on the headset. Press the handset/headset switch and pick up the handset off your telephone, set it aside to make calls. Slide the configuration switch (on the side of the S11 base) until you hear a clear dial tone.

I can hear callers through my s11 plantronics headset but after using and trying all configuration no.'s they can't hear me at all

Make sure the Plantronics S11 headset is plugged into your handset jack on your phone, not the headset jack, this will make a difference on most phones. After plugging the S11 into the handset jack on your phone, you will need to pick up your handset receiver and sit it off to the side of the phone to place a call or to receive a call, after you are finished with your call sit the handset receiver back in the cradle on your phone.

I connected my S11 plantronics headset to my Cisco 7900 at work and can hear, but callers can't hear me

Most Cisco phones have a headset port where you can connect a headset using a special direct connect cable. This allows you to use your headset without touching the handset (receiver). However, when using an amplifier and headset combination, like the S11, you will need to connect through the HANDSET port. You disconnect the handset cable from the phone, connect the S11 cable into that port and connect the handset cable into the back of the S11 amplifier. Be sure to follow the illustrations on the back of the amplifier when connecting the cables. Also, adjust the configuration slide on the left of the amplifier for the best possible dial tone. Remember that in order to access a call or make a call, you will have to lift the handset off the phone and set it aside (switch hook needs to be activated).

There is only one setting on my headset where there isn't a loud tone and the other person can barely hear me. They say it sounds like I am far away. What can I do to fix it?

The Plantronics S11 headset system needs to be plugged into the handset jack on your phone not the headset jack. There is a jack on the back of the S11 system where the curly cord from your handset will plug into. That should fix your problem.

I can hear patients and a dial tone if i pick up the phone but noone can hear me

Please pay special attention to where the handset cord is plugged in. Then, check where the cord is that comes from the S11, it should be plugged into where the handset cord was. Once that is done check the compatibility slide switch. Adjust the volume on the amplifier. The handset must remain off the of the cradle when making a call. If the cords are not in the correct place it will not work correctly.

My Headset does´nt have dialtone, I was connecting to cisco phone 7941, 7970, 7911, and nothing, not work.

You can use a Plantronics S11 headset with a Cisco phone, however it is not the best compatible solution. To use an S11 with a Cisco phone, you have to make sure that you are plugging it into the handset receiver jack and not the headset jack. You will need to lift the handset receiver, set it off to the side, and then hang it up after each call. If you want a more compatible solution that you can plug into the actual headset jack and just press the headset button on the telephone to answer and hang up, then you would need one of the Plantronics "H-series headsets" with the Plantronics Cisco direct connect cable ( model 26716-01 ).

Plantronics S11 head set does not work: hooked up properly, but non of the configuration setting yield tone. At one setting, only after the line goes into fast bipping mode (off hook for a long time) I can...

The Plantronics S11 headset system is meant to plug into the handset jack on your phone not the headset jack. Check the connection on the S11 to make sure the handset jack is where it is plugged into at.

Here are a few suggestions from Plantronics if you are not getting a dial tone:

Make sure all cable connections are correct and firmly in place.

Pay special attention that handset cord is properly connected.

Ensure AC power adapter is connected and power is on.
Make sure you have pressed the headset button and the headset indicator is on.

Make sure the telephone handset is off-hook.

Adjust listen volume control.

Adjust the compatibility slide switch.

Ensure that the headset is centered on your ear.
