Have a new 2710 HP TAblet. Trying to add the hp officejet 4200 series all-in-one. Unable to due to operating system & administrator rights? Is this another Vista problem?

Have you tried right clicking install box and when choices comes up use install as administrator

You can find all HP OfficeJet J6400 series driver and software HERE.
Try to de-install and re-install again when running as Administrator.

Please tell me what your operating system is, and where you are.

If your computer runs Windows 7, the driver is already aboard. Click the Start button, go to Control Panel, click Printers, and click Add a Printer from the service bar near the top of the window. You will be asked whether you are installing a printer directly connected to your computer, or if you are setting up a printer for a network. Then you will be asked to choose the usual printer port LPT1, or a new port. Select Existing Port, LPT1, if this is the only printer on your computer. A new window appears, which lists all of the drivers that are included with the operating system software on your computer. Select HP for Hewlett Packard in the left window. The list of included drivers appears in the right window. Scroll down to OfficeJet, and double-click 4300 Series. Name your printer, and click next. The system will now attempt to detect a printer, so have your connections secured.

It should take between 1 and 3 minutes, depending on the speed of your system. Save your work, and exit from any other programs you are using, so that the computer can restart and activate the printer software.

What's the abbreviation of descipe?

No, there are no drivers for this printer with W7.
However, we can add the additional drivers and make it print.

Please click on Start on the computer----Devices and printers----Add a printer----Add a local printer
.
----Select Use an exhisting port-----Please select LPT 1 and from the drop down selet USB 001
(Please do not proceed further until we get USB 001)

----Next----On left Select HP----

On right select HP Photosmart 2710 or any related Photosmart printer series----

Next----Next----Select do not share this printer----Next----Print a test page----Finish

I beleive you are trying to install the software from the installation CD. I assume that you are using the Vista operating system. So, I recommend you to download the HP Software from the web site and then check with the result.

Yes it is the right disk, Because 4200 is the series of printers which HP has (i.e 4210, 4210V, 4210XI) all comes under the same 4200 series, so do not worry it is the same printer driver.
Except make sure it is for the right operating system like Windows2000, WindowsXP or WindowsVista
