I have a 42" Philips model 42PF9631D/37. When I try and use the picture in picture feature, a black box appears in the upper left and it says "Source Not Available" in the upper right. I am using HDMI cables in both my Cable Box and Blu-Ray player. How do I set this up to work correctly. I haven't been able to get any assistance from the users manual.
Does you 9631 have 2 HDMI ports ? And are u trying to use both HDMI ports at once trying to use the pic in pic feature ? The processor might not be able to process both HDMI signals at once. Try using the tuner (a tv channel and a AV connection ) and see if you have the same problem).

Are you missing the top portion of the picture or the bottom portion of the picture? looking inside the TV will reveal two modules to the furthest left of the inside. These are the upper and lower Y buffer modules. Replace the top one if missing the top half of the picture or the bottom one if missing that segment. Usually you can find good used parts on Ebay. Or Shopjimmy.com.
Unplug the box's power cord for 5 minutes and wait for it to reset, plug it in, wait another 3 minutes for the box to reboot, then power up the box. If that doesn't fix it then you might have to call your satellite/cable company.
if you have a cable box and run it thour the cable box it will not work. cable befor the cable box you can do it put a spirer on the line be for the box run one to cable box 2 to the tv ant1 ant2 that is the way you can do it.
Worked it out. The Direct TV remote has a yellow button and that did it. I don't know whether I had inadvertently programmed it that way but problem gone.
Thanks.
It's likely the upper Y-module but both the upper and lower could be having problems - just nothing noticeable in the lower half of the screen as yet, is my guess..
This is not a job for a layman and you'll need some fairly sophisticated equipment to troubleshoot the boards, not to mention being able to read schematics and understand waveforms. Hence, my best advice would be to take it in to a reputable shop and have it estimated...
