Sony kp-53s35 bowed picture on top and bottom

This model uses two convergence chips---likely one is bad but both would have to be replaced and the set adjusted.

It sounds like the blue CRT (picture tube) is failing. The part number for this is 8-733-575-25 but you will need a technician to replace it for you as there is mechanical and electrical alignment to with with it. At that point it probably isn't cost effective to repair the TV. Please take a few moments to rate my answer. Thank you.

Projection sets have two very common problems outlined below.

The first common problem is convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. The TV can also shut down when the convergence starts to fail.

Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith, RCA and others.

nbad convergence ic , this need to be done by a profecional tv tech , because need to check for the pico fuse and resistor around the area

in the menu screen, there is an option where you can re align the colors, by adjusting cross hairs

sounds like retrace lines. Need to trouble shoot your video circuit.

look in hte convergence circuit for opened reistors.
