You must contact your service provider and ask the to turn this feature OFF.
Further you must go into the phone setting and ensure that you do NOT have your Voice Mail settings set to go to voicemail, in any event once it is disabled by the provider this will no longer happen.
Below is your user manual so you can check your settings against the manual.

what model is that phone ? you have listed it as an 8130. be that as it may check that you don't have the profile set to silent or meeting. on my 8100 loud actually mutes it for some reason.
I think it is a RIM Pearl. Couple years old. Under the battery is says 8130.
fair enough... did you check the speaker profile to see what it was set at ?
It's set at Loud.
set it to normal and try it
no luck. : (
brb then going to read the manual.
one thing tho... does it make a noise for incoming text messages ?
while you are at it depress the mute key once and try it.
yes. At least I think it still does.
I feel really stupid, but I've never used a mute key on this phone. Where is it?
found it and tried it. Didn't help
have someone text you or failing that text yourself to test that

every indication is still call forwarding. did you actually check those settings ?
I can't find call forwarding anywhere on my phone. Everywhere I go to troubleshoot, tells me to go there, but I can't find it anywhere.
Interesting. I just tried to call my Voice Mail and it just keeps failing.
i posted the instructions for you at the beginning of this support. if call forward is not in the menu let me know.
It is not.
go into your media and select ringtones... change it to something else preferably with a longer running time.
Done. Didn't change anything.
verify a couple things. that you are using the correct phone number and when you call your phone how many rings before it goes to voice mail. which apparently you need to set up again. i'm beggining to wonder tho if the problem isn't their voice mail system. perhaps call your voice mail from a regular phone to see if you can in fact access it.
I am going to run down the road to Verizon again before they close. If I can't get anywhere again, I'll get back with you.
Thank you so much!! If you find anything in the meantime, please email me.
Thank you for all your patience and help today. I spent that last 1 1/2 hours at our local Verizon dealer (not the big corporate one I went to). Yes it is the voice mail system and it is in the phone itself. So, I was able to get a reconditioned phone identical to the one I had for only the cost of a battery. Can't beat that and I still have the phone I love.
thanks again!!
what did they say when you went back to the store ?
