Focus error after i go threw the auto focus my color lines are off, i am watching like 2 pics just off of eachother a little 1 is blue and the other is red

the screen bias needs to be turned down-ehind the front cover which is behind the grille there is a small black square about 3 inch square 6 little knobs sticking out 3 say in small letters screen and 3 say focus, don't adjust the focus just the screen for the coresponding color that shows up when picture is dark.best way to do this is darken the room and put it on video input with no signal if lines are white slowly
adjust 1 color after the other counterclockwise untill
lines disappear if only 1 color shows then only adjust the knob with the matching color. this is a very fine adjustment, to much will make your auto focus stop working. check it after you are done

needs convergence work, chips probibly

When doing convergence you start with number 1 x and move to all odd numbers, then you go back and fix the even number. You have to do this until all of the x's are lined up with all the colors.

Ur tv convergence ICS are dead.That why ur colors lines green,red,and blue are not linning up,and the colors look like 3-D pic.Must have soldering tools,and know soldering to fix convergence problems.Must replaced 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all of it resistors.Tries websites like Tv repair World.com,Tvrepairkits.com to buy a convergence kit to repair it ur self.The shop will cost u $300-350 for the parts and labors.

i also have this tv. i removed backcleaned mirrior, back of screen and lenses VERY GOOD. Then turned on tv go to convergence, sepaerate cross hairs then adjust focus on lenses. Then lenses rotate maybe about a 1/3 turn total by hand. Grab ring that houses lenses and turn until cross hairs are as clear as possible. This can be done with out help by watching inside of screen. red and green are adjustable, the blue is adjustablealso but i couldnt find blue cross hairs, maybe by covering red and green lenses the blue will show on screen. anyway when done and cross hairs are clear,lenses, mirror and screen are clean, you can adjust covergence and get a very clear screencleaning will also brighten pic. noted in the owners manual, if auto focus returns message "error" , it suggests to use manual convergence setting..failing that, is it resonable to suspect that the STK-392-110 (convergence (2)chips)are beginning to fail, bendt horizonital lines is the effect. you can check all the resistors and pico fuses (power board)near the chips for shorts, chances are they are ok. seeing that there is somewhat of a picture (kinda like 3-d). i would repaired it!.. while your there do the hyperboard repair as well by replacing the 10 caps with 16v@10uf. (causing a wavy vertical distortion effect).

On front bottom panel remove behind it will be your focus/screen block cobtrol adjust Blue screen drive and focus also how to enter service mode for convergence with set off PRESS and hold at same time ch-&vol- untill set comes back on release you should now be in service mode for convergence.

It looks like you may to replace the convergence units. It will require repair.

Repair the convergence circuit

The convergence IC`s need to be replaced and the related low ohm resistors need to be checked for proper value.
