Good-day. As I started my car my Garmin Nuvi 205W switched on and then off. I tried to switch it on using the manual switch-no luck. It is normally connected to the charger and switches on automatically when the car is started. Now it will not start at all. Please help.

Have you tried resetting the 205W. There is a reset button on the bottom of some of the units if not power off the unit and then hold the power button for about 10 seconds till it starts, it should go through a start up and then reboot itself. The link provided by Garmin for the nuvi 255W returns the 205 / 205W manual instead. The main difference is the maps. The 205 offers built in maps of the U.S. only - while the 255 offers built in maps of U.S. & Canada.

In order to print the manual, you'll need to save the file and then use the free Adobe Reader program to open it. Use Abode Reader's internal Print function to properly format and print the manual to your printer. The Print command is visible under the "File" section or can be started by pressing Ctrl + P keys.

follow the steps below:

1st: make sure your NUVI is OFF then plug in the usb cable from the computer to the NUVI, after you hear your computer ding from new device connected, and the NUVI displays the computer icon move to step 2

step 2: if you have xp go to START and MY COMPUTER. with vista its START then COMPUTER button on the right side

step 3: with MY COMPUTER window open hold the NUVI power switch to the ON position and RIGHT CLICK the NUVI device logo (blue triangle) and select EJECT .. ( DON;T HIT SAFiLY REMOVE)

step 4: when you see GARMIN display on the screen you can letgo of the power button on the NUVI ****** if you unplugthe usb it will display message stating EXTERNAL POWER LOST SWITCHING TO BATTERY POWER***** while it is plugged to the computer the battery meter will disappear.
